QUIET RIOT
Randy Rhoads at Wally Heider studios in Hollywood during the QR 1 album session. The guitar belonged to Harold Bear, QR’s first Roadie.
Harold Bear on the guitar:
"What this is would be pretty much the ultimate partscaster. The neck has a date stamp of August 1963, the pickguard is circa 1960 or so. First year for the 3 ply. Pickups are 1956 and pole pieces are all level.
The cavities are Olympic White which would have been the original color.
The body also has two sets of pickguard holes indicating it originally had 9 instead of 10 screws. Strat knobs were replaced with Tele style knobs.
It has all 5 springs. Original Kluson tuners. The serial number (-22912) and other clues on the body indicate 1957.
The 3 way selector was replaced by an on/off toggle switch for each pickup. And an additional switch was added in the lower horn that reverses the phase on the bridge pickup. Back in the day I added Strap Locks to all of my guitars as well as Randy's Les Paul...."
