Amp Chassis Cradle… DIY!!!

Long time ago, I downloaded from Modulus Amplification a set of blueprint plans in regards to building your own amp chassis cradle. Instead, my lazy ass built a very crude and primitive version of an amp cradle that has served me well for about 15 years. Well, about a week ago I decided to create a little upgrade.

I did need to add about 3” to of total length to the Modulus plans in order to accommodate the 26” long chassis of my two JCM style amps. This cradles max opening for a chassis is 26 3/4”:

Minimum opening is 15 1/2”:

Heavy duty, thick brown felt for good tone…

It was a fun project and hopefully it will hold a fully equipped amp chassis with it’s heavy trannies.

If any is interested, I also posted the Modulus plans as a pdf file attachment.

Modulus is based in the United Kingdom, so naturally the plans use the metric system for measurements. I’m realizing that the metric system is so much easier to use… I hate calculating fractions!

Fortunately I had an old decent piece of 3/4” birch plywood to cut up. It was a little bowed though, and you might notice it in the pics. I only needed to spend some money on the hardware… about $30. The 5 knobs was about $25 of the hardware total. Used glue and screws for all joints, and the whole chassis stand feels solid… Yay!

In comparison:
Mojotone’s chassis stand looks very nice. $190 plus tax.

Weber’s chassis stand looks very similar to mine. $170 plus tax.

Looks like a winner. I have two non tilting they got the job done my amp repair has flat lined I have a few
but nothing like the past when I give an estimate now price of parts plus shipping cost everything has doubled in price
thank;s to the Biden show the day's of ordering tubes direct from Russia are over and my source of NOS tubes from Germany
