Mixing 10" + 12" speakers in the same cab?

I'm current using 2 cabs with my HG Plexi, a 110 cab with a 10" Greenback paired with a 112 cab loaded with a vintage G12T-75 and they sound amazing together. So I'm thinking, why not put both speakers in one cab? Any reason why this wouldn't work? The reason I would want to do this is because I can redo the baffle in my 112 cab to fit a 12" and a 10", but it's not big enough to make it a 212 and I'd rather get the same sound from 1 cab rather than having to use 2 like I am now. I'm asking because I'm worried the 2 speakers in one cab won't sound the same as they do now in separate cabs. What do you think?

Give it a shot. The sound may blend to sound really cool. If you already have the parts and supplies and we're only talking a little time to do it, I think it sounds like a cool experiment.

Yeah, I don't have parts and supplies yet. This is still just an idea and I wanted to get some opinions before I go spending any money.

@Col Mustard has one that he put together.
IIRC he spoke highly about it.
The sound will likely change(for better or worse…it will be subjective)….shared acoustic chamber, as opposed to the same size chamber for one speaker.
 
No problem doing it if the sensitivity of the two speakers is about the same. And they can sound really good! Gibson was doing this with the last series of GA amps that were built by Trace Elliott...

Those amps sounded amazing, and I think if they had been a little more affordable they would have been a lot more popular.

Well, there ya have it and there ya are!

12 + 10 looks like a totally doable scheme.
 
The G12T-75 sensitivity is 97dB on new ones, but mine is an '82 vented magnet one and they are not the same speaker as the newer T-75s so I don't know if it's the same for mine and I can't find that spec doing a search.

The G10 GB is 95dB.

Those cutouts are tracings around actual speakers so they include the rim. And I wasn't really trying to place them accurately, just stuck them on there to give an idea of how I would place them.

Good to know! I was not sure of the scale/context of the drawing.
