My Dangerous Rides...

In my teens I learned that I should stay away from street bikes of all sorts..
I didn’t crash, but the stupid crap I did on them would have led to a major problem.

So I stayed in the dirt.

This would have been just before the financial crash of 08.
When I could still afford to take the local kids out to the hills and ride.

Mitch we are brothers! Lived in the dirt.
MX fiend. Atv, CR500 and side by side.

Other than the almost t-bone episodes. Closest I came to a crash was having a back tire deflate in a hurry. Used all of my lane getting control, ultimately ending up in the ditch….. mostly still upright. No panic. Just let the bike tell me where it wanted to go and hung on. Never hit the brakes till I was in the ditch. I may have clutched it. Twas a very long time ago. Had my future bride on behind me. To her credit. She didn’t move a muscle till we got stopped. That alone is probably why we didn’t go down and get hurt.
I had one near hit(miss), old lady in a ford falcon coming down off ramp wrong way, luckily there was enough room for me to squeak by. Nearly shat myself, had to stop and smoke a half pack of smokes to calm down...:dancepoo:

One of the t- bone incidents. I was only a few blocks from home. Got home and was all weak kneed…. Probably adrenaline. Sat on the front steps for a bit gathering my thoughts.

I found this clip this morning on the Fantastic! 1974 Yamaha RD350. You might find this clip amusing to watch, and I understand his excitement because I owned one. These bikes are well documented of how good they were, now that I look back , I wish I still owned it. This guy was just happy to ride his dream bike. One thing for sure, I have, and what a great feeling that bike gave me, one that I will always remember..

My first bike was a close cousin to the RD350, it was the XS360

Maybe not as quick on the launch as the two banger, but it'd still break 120 top end....:dood:
Go for it. On my 550, going downhill with a tailwind. Laying on the tank. I had it up over 90. Still had room to go….. except I looked down at the pavement going by. Immediately sat up and backed off. Never went that fast again.

It was safer doing 50 on an MX bike flying off jumps than that pavement garbage.

Don't feel bad. when the RD350B two stroker could beat even 4 stroke 750s in a quarter mile..:)
Norm did you ever ride the
Honda 305 scrambler ?
One of our neighbors had one and he loved it.

On the other hand my pop and his friend Ken had the Yamaha 250 twin 2 stoke Big Bear scramblers .
