I watched my dad turn plans like these into planes. I built model cars…. But never anything this ambitious. The plans..
When I was working I decided I wanted to see how quick I could build this kit. I worked Mon-Thurs 4 hrs a night, Friday nights 5 hrs, Sat-Sundays 13 hrs per day. It took me 6 weeks from start to finish, I have never completed a plane in that short of a time period ever. The plans..
Yours?F4U Corsair
Tricky work covering the gull wing..
Yours?
That’s really cool. And I bet, though to build. Pretty rewarding once done though. How’s it fly?Yep its mine Rick, thanks!
I was reading a comparison between the real life Corsair and the Mustang. I always believed the Mustang to be the kick butt fighter in WW2. Turns out the Corsair held its own in battle but also in some respects was the superior plane. It was a surprise to me.It’s actually quite a stable plane to fly, takes very little movement on ailerons for turning and rolls smoothly on slow rolls. When I first flew it thought it would be on the trickier side of things, but I was wrong.. You definitely would want to make sure the CG is spot on. And I made sure of that.
