TTR Game of Toanz

Fellas thank you for the interest, please continue the TTR Tone Rankings and submissions however you may wish to!

I am sorry we couldn't get 16 players for GOT... probably the deadline was too short, maybe too many, too busy. Perhaps another time or an extended entry deadline?

I figured traffic here on TTR is enough to get 16 ... its partly my own failure to garner enough interest... it's certainly a leap of faith to jump in and I am super grateful for the ten who were up to the challenge. It's just all about the love of rock music, guitar life specifically, with a heavy dose of fantasy roleplay mixed in. It's well worth the time even as game admin, for me... about double what players put in. MANY laughs to be had, and you get to know how twisted your brothers can be.

I promise to host Game of Tones when the mood is right, and enough fellas desire a little outside the regular box hijinx here in our community, once y'all get tired of cat pictures and tube rolling LOL!
Definitely give it another try Brad.

Thanks for the effort though.
Hopefully we'll try it again when the time is right.

Wondering if there is community interest in the comeback tour of Game of Toanz?

SG John won the pre- challenge... I believe everyone had fun except Headache who got mad and disrespected all over Kurt Cobain LOL!!!!

I need minimum 16 players.
Think of it as a slowmo LARP over the internet... to find TTRs ultimate virtual rockstar.
You will need to out think, outwit and outplay (though actual real guitar skills not really required), your fellow forumites. Weekly challenges ... sort of a Survivor elimination format.

If I can get 16 willing victims I will fire it up this Friday.

Great question!

Criteria is weighted, 33% rhythm tone, 44% lead tone, and 23% ITP (intangible tone potential), taking into account signal chain, stage presence and impressive posing abilities. I can say only a couple TTR members are really taking full advantage of that last 23%.

I'm game.

As far as tone goes, i tend to have a sort of chainsaw-esque, signature sound. I shoot for something that may sound unexciting or perhaps over-the-top by itself, but cuts through strongly in a mix.

Its my personal principle of sounding aggressive and angry, with a distinct urgency in the playing, as oppised to shoiting for perfection.

I'll submit this as an example of my rhythm, lead and bass playing all in one.

This is a Les Paul on Rhythm through @syscokid's hot-rodded Marshal Origin Ivanberg - at near full volume - mic'd from 6 feet away in a hardwood-floored room.

The solo was played on my YelloStrat with a 16.5k AlNico9 44AWG Neanderthal Bridge Pickup, custom-built for me by DiMarzio, with the same amp settings, and with delay added post-recording.

Bass is crafted on a $60.00 Craigslist Ibanez GSR-190 import through a Fender Rumble 40, Direct-Out into my DAW. Its totally stock with Ernie Ball. 105's.

The game is a combo of trivia, music, humor, fantasy and some puzzle-ish quests and challenges. You will be judged on these for immunity and elimination challenges. By non-playing TTR members, game-eliminated members and possibly special guest rock stars if I can work that out.

It will last up to a few months... but you can ask others to play for you if you have something going on. There will be weekly deadlines and a minimum of timed challenges.

Who among you is worthy to sit atop the IRON THRONE of TOAN??? (Its not really about tone, it's about testing your potential to start from zero and rise to the heights of Rock God like Egotism and Pure Industry Domination and Power.

At least one of you probably has the right stuff.

I am on the mend, but in true rock n roll fashion. I will not let injury stop me from competing for the throne!
Speaking of the throne. Nature calls!

Was that TMI? I can’t tell anymore.

Despite his near legendary status here on TTR, do not overestimate Robert Hernia's abilities to climb to atop of the Throne of Toanz. He's an old fella, a road warrior, but not near a nimble and clear-minded as he was in his prime. In the Game of Toanz often the Giants fall hardest.

Liveevil2000 is already famous for loud pharty noises, and not just from his amps

I have but two brave competitors so far

I'm nothing more than a humble support musician who loves to hearken back to the 1980's.

There are many much, much better than I, Good Sir!!!!

Do you love to chortle at scandalous humor? Are you able to pick just the right scarf to tie to your mic stand? Can you accurately flick a pick up to ten feet right to that amazing brunette in row 3? Do your filthy leather pants actually stand up by themselves in the corner of the tour bus?
Game of Toanz is your game
