Have a friend that had a 67 Old 442. 400. CI. Four speed. Thing was an animal.
The 442 Olds were really badass cars that are sometimes sadly forgotten as true muscle cars. An older guy down the road had an absolutely gorgeous 1969 Olds 442 400 with the W-30 cold air package in Silver with red vinyl interior. He kept it in a garage and would pull it outside every now and then. Unfortunately, his daughter got really sick and he was trying to pay medical bills, so he placed it for sale and someone took it out from him for a disgustingly low price. I had heard it went for less than $4000 which would be terrible if he did have to sell it that low.

I remember reading about the meaning of the 442 name and there were a lot of beliefs, namely people thought that was the engine size but there never was actually a 442 ci. It allegedly was written down as a spec for the Cutlass as 4 barrel, 4 speed, dual exhaust ( 2 mufflers) with the fairly weak 330ci in 1964. The next year, they went with the 400ci became the standard, so now it stood for 400ci, 4 speed, 2 exhaust lol
