Marshall's U.S.A. Sales

Nothing wrong with it. They are trying to have an amp for all budget ranges and the Vietnam made stuff is very solid for the price. The disposable modeling junk is made in China, and who cares for what it is. Their top-line/pro-level amps are still made in England and built as well as anything out there.
Yep. Sales increase if you can market to a larger segment of population at a variety of prices.

If one is willing to pay the price, new is always good, because you really don't wanna be buying someone else's problem child.
But that's why I mentioned doing due diligence. I wouldn't buy a used vehicle without checking it out under the hood quite thoroughly, test driving, etc. I also wouldn't buy a used amp without checking it out thoroughly, and putting it through it's paces to make sure that it's all good before handing over the cash either.

Even in the best circumstances though, sometimes poop happens.
I miss the eighties, and everyone getting hooked on Crack. I bought a lot of guitars, tools, motorcycle parts and other cool stuff off of co-workers and acquaintances on payday when their drug dealers were chasing them for money that was owed to them.

I agree which I have mentioned before in other threads, As I own Chinese amps and 1 guitar, but there has been a few here. who I won't mention names who have been adamant about owning U.k. or American amps, and suggesting Chinese or also in this case Vietnamese is basically no good.

If it works it works, I say lol

Obviously, there is some history, prestige and charm in an amp built within the original country of origin and an old vintage British made Marshall more than earns it's reputation for great reason. But times change and money talks, so as long as the final product holds up and sounds great; I have zero issue really

Lol sadly, that was a common theme here where I live throughout certain spots in history. Certainly in the mid 80s and again in the early 2000s, coal mines would go bust and you could grab a local classifieds paper and score anything you could imagine for dirt cheap prices.

Certainly a form of exploitation you could argue but, lots of people got killer deals on boats, ATVs, guns, guitars and electronics lol

Those people I would definitely feel bad for, and try to not rip them off. If I had the money on hand, I would definitely try to offer more than the asking price if it was too low. Being a victim of someone else's greed and apathy towards their employees is a huge difference from someone dumb enough to put a monkey on their back.

Agree 100%! I can say I nor my family never exploited anyone like that, cause minus the having to sell our possessions part: I grew up on the wrong side of the coal bust. Industry went to utter hell in 84, year after I was born. Dad lost his job in the mines, took on a ton of odd-jobs to keep us afloat but that wasn't getting anywhere. So he decided to use his GI Bill from the Marines and go to night school for electrical school to change careers altogether. Ended up in a ghetto apartment in cracktown during that time but, made it out on the other side fortunately through some hard times.

Unfortunately, lots of people here did prey on the industry busts though and still do. Ripping off a tweaker or a crackie never bothered me, but they usually just sell stolen crap here anyways so it's risky lol

My first wife got strung out on crack nothing I could do to change her then I moved back home all my friends were free basing
or firing it up moved to Alaska to get away it was going on in Alaska but I didn't grow up with them
When I moved to Juneau my first friend was the undertaker and seen the death toll first hand from overdoses
then Gary the medical examiner would have me watch the autopsy's if you ever had a DWI or a drug arrest they remove your brain

There's nothing at all wrong with Asian amps for what they are. In my experience, you definitely get what you pay for though and I haven't run across one yet that can hang with the best of the US, UK, German or for that matter Canadian built amps. Just not gonna happen with price-point amps, and that's all that are made there. I own a Vietnamese DSL-1 and one of those Soldano mini heads made in China, so I am not an absolutist, but I would never gig with an Asian amp - I have my Mesas for when things get serious.

Personally, for me, when it comes to Asian guitars though, you couldn't give me one for free.

Yet I had troubles last March when I lost sound from the Mesa Mk V 35. It worked when I got home, never did sort the problem. I gig with a backup so it wouldn't bother me.
I have lots of very good Asian guitars such as Ibanez Prestige etc.
I just play stuff. I am not picky. They uave to be good and I have to like them. Past that can't care.

That's weird. I've been using Mesas since the early/mid '90s and never had so much as a tube blow on me - they have bee the most reliable, rock-solid amps I have every played. Had a Marshall poop the bed on me once though.

My issue with Asian guitars has been that I have to do too damn much to them to get them right. I don't like a guitar that basically requires extensive work on it and changes to hardware/pickups to get it right out of the box. I've never had one that didn't need it. WIth Gibson, I could happily take a new one off the wall at guitar center and head straight to a gig and with little more than adjusting the bridge height play a gig comfortably with it. Just my own experience, as always.

Mfirst wife left me at 22 with a 2 year old, after only 2-1/2 years of marriage. That was a real blow. I didn't date for 5 years. I just threw myself into music.

Luckily for me, when I split with my first wife there were no children involved. But it did take me a little while to get back in the saddle, maybe a year before I started dating (banging) women again and 2 or 3 to get anything like serious with one.

I wondered whether it was pedal board related at first but I did plug guitar straight into amp, removed loop pedals, amd got nothing. Everything lit up.
When I got home and tried it the next day it worked and has since....weird.
I found my Prestige to be right on the money, same with the EVH and Mockingbird. Eminently playable as they were. To be fair someone put SD Invaders in the Bird before I bought it.
But I don't measure action and all that. If it is low enough amd sounds good, I rock.
