Out in front of the house, in the middle of the alfalfa field, there's been a small deer hanging out for about a week. Not unusual to see them around, but highly unusual for them to stick around like this. There are two coyotes that live nearby, and I often see them crossing the field on their way to wherever they go. I haven't seen them in the alfalfa for a few days, but I saw one in a nearby field of corn stubble, I don't think he was aware of the deer's presence. This morning I walked out to try to give it a carrot, but it didn't want me getting too close. It slowly got up and sauntered away, but I'm sure it'll be back. I left the carrot near where it was bedded down. Not sure if it's injured or something but if it doesn't move on, those coyotes will get it eventually. At least it's got plenty of food until then.
Guess I'll try again with another carrot tomorrow morning.
