Wanted one of these since they first came out. A deal ran across my feed a week ago and I couldn’t refuse. Showed up today and it does not disappoint.

I already have the Bogner Mini and, like most amps, it works best for metal with a boost in front and a 10-band in the loop. Not the SLO Mini, this sucker rips all on its own. I hooked it up with the 10-band and took it right back out. Could be a boost tightens the low end if you’re pushing a 412, but I’m running it thru my Mesa Lonestar 112 clone, loaded with a Mesa Black Shadow and it sounds killer as is.

it isn’t as versatile as the Bogner, but if you want anything from AC/DC crunch to blistering death metal chugs for under $250, this is the amp for you.

Saw a few folks on other forums say it would compete with a live drummer, too. I haven’t turned it up past 3 on the master, but as loud as that was, I can believe it - especially if you run it thru a proper 412.

Gonna mess with it more today, and likely run it into my Randall Diavlo 212 to see how it sounds with more speaker square inches... If you need a killer little hard rock/metal amp and don't want to have all the pedals and such, this one is all you.

I’m going to have to try mine again, but I brought my mini SLO over to friend’s house to show it off. Plugged it into some type of Peavey bass amp combo’s speaker. Yeah, it’s not the ideal situation for a demo of the mini SLO. As I cranked the master volume past noon, it sounded like it was loosing its composure and did not sound to much louder when cranking past noon. With MV at noon it’s loud, but with a hard pounding drummer I feel it’s going to lack “cut through the mix” capabilities.

Once again, I need to try my mini SLO with my speakers and try the crank to Holy Heavens again… :hmmm:
 
I really like mine, amazing tones in the little sucker. It definitely gets loud, and through a 4x12 I think it would hang with all but the loudest drummers, but to me its more of a practice/impromptu jam amp. I use it with a Boogie 1x10 (Creamback) and it gives off the vibe of a much bigger amp at conversation volumes.

Agreed about the boost. And the loop is fantastic on these things!

I turned on my DB meter earlier and with the MV on 5, the SLO Mini hits 101db. At 7 it hit 105 - thru the Mesa 112 clone cab that was under the meter and aimed away. Definitely did not lose composure or anything of the sort, but my 112 is a guitar cab. I definitely think DBall is right, with a proper 412 it could hang. 30 watts is still 30 watts. :dood:

What distance? Recall, a V30 is 100dB at 1 watt at 1 meter distance.
30 watts should cover most stuff especially through a good cab.

I have low power SS practice amps. I spose the Boss Katana as a small lightweight SS combo being way more versatile is a better rehearsal amp (I really like mine) but a compact 30ish watt head seems really cool.

I have a Katana 50 and absolutely love it. Best practice amp ever made. This SLO Mini is incredible, but nowhere near as versatile as the Katana.
 
Anybody tried any of the other mini's from B.A.D.?
Bogner Ecstacy Mini?
Diezel VH Micro?
Friedman BE Mini?

I also have the Bogner, it’s pretty killer too. Has a wider range of tonal options than the SLO, but doesn’t do high gain quite as well. For a lot of folks on here, the Bogner might be the better choice. But if metal is your thing, the SLO all day every day.

Really want to try the Diezel, as I love the Diezel sims in my Helix. Haven’t heard much good about the Friedman.

I have the 100 only because it can use the 6 button footswitch. I generally run it like any amp with the panel setting except for special things - cleanish, and 2 solo channels.
The 50 cannot switch between preset 1and 2 and panel, which is a real problem IMO. For me.
My bandmate needs a new small backup his old Bandit is dying. But the 50 just doesn't work that well for live rehearsing in that respect.
Sounds great tho.
