Photography, wildlife and more

A few weeks ago, we had the heart breaking incident with the Raccoon, and then yesterday, we got a new visitor. Our neighbors dog was barking up a storm so I walked out on my balcony to yell at the damn thing, looked up and 10 feet in front of me was a bear cub hanging out on the tree right outside our property line. Scared the crap out of me. I ran and got the camera and for the next few hours my son and I were running back and forth getting pictures of the group. A black bear sow and her three cubs were at the hatchery behind my apartment complex. They hung around for a few hours and finally headed out. This is crazy considering that it's downtown and heavily populated.

One of the cubs hanging on the tree outside my apartment:

The three cubs climbed up the tree and hung out at the top for about 30 minutes and then came down. Once they did that, the whole group were looking for a way out of the area.

When they are around, you are NOT at the top of the food chain anymore :run:

OK all you Photographic savants.

I have struggled all day to get acceptable photos to upload digitally for attempting to renew my Passport online.
The Online process has some parameters and apparently my background is one of these that is not sufficient.

The other may be sizing and pixels and resolution related. I will try to copy and paste the instructions and if anyone can assist, I will greatly appreciate it. Oh yeah, and the pics have to be jpegs.

I will try to see if this link works to describe the requirements.

You need a white background with no shadows. So... no hard lighting from the front. How do ypu have it setup?

Thanks Jethro, THIS was my hardest obstacle. I enlisted the help of Col Mustard.

I sent him a few pics, he worked his magic and emailed me back a suitable shot to upload in my online renewal of my Passport.

THANKS for your reply.
Renewal and pic successfully submitted.

Oh ok. That was easy! Just fix up shadows n highlights. Would depend on original shot.
Carry on...

The video below shows a couple of random stars that I caught on video the same night as Mars.

Try the manual focus on it. The star should be a sharp point rather than a blob. It is very difficult for them to focus on a small point.
Mars works better at the end. You can see the red color! The stars should look like that too. Also try the zoom out then in? It seemed to work w Mars.
Cool!
