To Session 5: Canada will ban sales of combustion engine cars by 2035

It will require growing zero-emission car sales starting in 2026.

A. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a zero emission car...

B. Moving the exhaust from the car tail pipe - to the power plant, does not solve the problem.
The power plant runs on fossil fuels.:pound-hand:
Until all power is generated from non fuel sources, the problem still exists.

C. There has been a slight miscalculation:
Between the power plant and the point of usage, 63% of the power is lost (as heat) in the power grid.

In other words, if you generate 100 KWH of power, only 47% of it reaches the electric car charger.
63 KWH of the power is lost in the wires between the power plant and the car.
People assume that electricity is 100% efficient, it's far from it.

This small error / miscalculation reveals that electric cars are no more efficient than gasoline cars.
:pound-hand:
But there is hope:
if you can generate all electricity from non fuel sources.

Now we shall see
if my plan to generate electricity from the magnetic field of the earth will work....
(geomagnetic energy) if so, problem solved.

I wonder if the viability of Nicola Tesla's plan from @1900 to harness solar and electrostatic energy from the atmosphere, and distribute it through the earth has ever been looked into in these modern times.
Or if the government and Big Energy quashed it and kept it quashed because Telsa wanted to make it free to humanity.

So true. It actually requires more "fossil fuel" and coal to produce the electricity than if the fuel went straight into the vehicle fuel tank. With our current power grid, there is no way that all electric vehicles will be able to get recharged once all vehicles are EV only. Now if everyone owned an Aptera, you could get 40 miles daily with sunshine powering the solar rechargeable batteries. This is of course providing you have adequate daily sunshine.

By 2035 I'll be 77. Hopefully I'll still be able to drive, and if so, petrol should still be available to purchase although you won't be able to purchase a new car that runs on gas.
No worries Wav, there will be lots of used ones kicking around..to get you through those golden years, but then again maybe more people will be hanging on to those gas machines in the future, they might be harder to find..

Lol.

Hey ...at least they are moving right to your expertise! You can then support the drivers online.

As anything else that comes from the powers that be, I never believe the spoken motive anyway. Electric cars and the computer based spy and remoted control functions implemented into them will be so off the charts it will be near a whole new invention in itself. Even car hacking!! There will be car virus software I suspect or a facsimile there of. There are zero limits once the computer is the brain of every aspect of the car, as you certainly know.

Scary!

:)
