This is a rip off

God made man so he could invent air conditioners and furnaces so we could control the climate in our homes..

I absolutely hate subscriptions. Software packages going to the recurring revenue direction just kills me but in some cases I have no alternative, other than not do something I really want to do, like use Photoshop and Lightroom.

Cars used to be considered a long term asset. One that depreciates over time, but a long term asset none the less. Now, most people, not everyone, but most people lease or trade up their cars 3-4 years after purchasing. This really translates to never really owning the vehicle and you're paying for a 'service.'

The cars I own, are older and paid for, for a reason. I value owning them and not having to pay monthly to use them.

The crazy thing is thinking that in the near future, you're going to have situations like a driver cruising down the interstate, the car begins to slow and carefully moves to the side of the road. Comes to a stop, hazards engage, and a voice comes over the radio. "I'm sorry. Your subscription has lapsed and the use of this vehicle is no longer approved. A tow truck has been dispatched. Thank you for choosing.."

Exactly the same boat. I also have to for LR and PS and it burns my ass. Unless necessary, they can bite it to make people pay yearly or whatevet to use a serice like that.
But for s fancymexpensive car? Outrageous.

I guess my point is, we have been slowly conditioned to accept these extra fees.
And to @Ghostman point. Where will it end.

When I bought my 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, the salesman said you will have Blue Link free for 5 years, it gives you apps, GPS, and a bunch of other high tech bologna. I said i don't want it , and i told him to make a note on my sales bill I won't be using it. And he did.

If consumers, refuse to get sucked into this free market garbage, then these type of market schemes will disappear. I am the kind of guy who avoids paying extra money for what I call useless extras.

I have a cell phone, which I have with no data, strictly calls and texts only, unlimited Canada wide. The only reason I have it is because My Mother is quite elderly and need communication with her at all times.

When I was younger growing up, we never had half of this stuff we have today, and everybody survived just as well as we do today, and with a lot less headaches and frustration.

Mostly agree. I too seldom take the “free” extras because then I have to remember to cancel before I start getting charged.

Don’t purchase extended warranty. I figured out working at the tractor dealerships that for all practical purposes it just a way for the dealership to make a bigger sale. In virtually every instance, machine….. be it a tractor or a car or a computer….. etc seldom breaks down during even the extended warranty life.

I do have a cell phone. I do have data. I almost never make phone calls. After 40 years behind a parts counter…. Which at its basics is customer service…. I have come to hate talking on a phone. I do text…. A lot. I also use my phone as a computer, almost never turning on my laptop.

I do have satellite radio in my car. In my last job before retiring I was in my car 1 1/2 hour plus going back and forth. I despise radio. You get 5 minutes of song and 10 minutes of commercials and another 10 minutes listening to mouth diarrhea from DJs. I turn on a radio…. I want music.

I bought an Audi S5 and they also have a service which connects to an app on your phone. I believe it’s called Audi connect.
It was free for a little while then it would be $400/year to keep it.
I checked it out and played with all the functions for a day or two and that was that.
Never really used it. Don’t miss it. Don’t want it.
