This is a rip off

Toyota came out with this some months back, but because of huge backlash from consumers, they pulled back.. Nothing , but gouging consumers..
Thats some bull:poo:!!
The problem is, all it takes is for people to become complacent and say, "OK I'll pay it" and the whole industry will follow along. Since it's Mercedes I almost feel like the chances of people paying $1200 are better than your average Toyota buyer.

Doesn't bother me TBH. I don't need or want a fast car, and I hope most people don't have access to them based on how I see people driving. If it's important to someone, then fine. But for the majority of people I suspect "performance" is not the reason they are buying a Benz.

Performance would be part of the reason. People buy a Benz for the following reasons
1) "Its a Benz", the status that comes with it. when you see a brand new Mercedes what thoughts go through your head? You don't really see a Benz parked outside the local dive bar, but they are all over the place at those pricey restaurants.
2) "Man those German cars are built well", Performance comes with that. I wouldn't want to dish out an annual fee after shelling out $$ for an AMG, but if you can afford an AMG ... "whats another $1200.
3) "Look at me and my new ride!" This goes beyond status and beyond the "new car" thrill everyone gets, this is a big ego thing. And with big egos you need all those bells and whistles to impress the other guys (or gals) and of course mentioning how much it costs most likely comes up.

Those are some reasons and not everyone thinks that way, but anytime I have ever met anyone who bought one, I can sure as hell bet I will hear one, if not all those quotes.

And that boys and girls is why I drive a no frills almost 10 year old Honda Civic.

Edit. For someone good with numbers. Sure blew this one. 07 Honda makes it 15 years old….. not 10. Duh!!!

Man oh man!! you are such a status seeker! next thing you know you'll be saying, "Its a Civic", "Man those Japanese cars are built well" and "Look at me and my old ride!"
Nah!! While Honda does build good stuff. Along side the car is a Honda snow blower and Honda push mower. All three just utility for me.

Status…. That’d be the 1977 Corvette sitting beside the Honda in the garage. Now we’re talking testosterone fix. :rolf:

Eff that!
Would you buy a guitar that forced a subscription to enable the Vol and/or Tone controls? Eff that.
How about an amp that forced a subscription to enable the reverb, or master volume?
If I want a lease I'll ask for it.
Did I mention Eff that?
:D

I’m getting a subliminal Ef that vibe in that post.
It’s subtle, but I can feel it.

Such a horrible and pathetic sign of the times. They wouldn't have played people for such fools some years ago.
Well isn’t that the norm now?
Look around.
You buy an app and there are extras if you pay for it.
You watch TV (which was free to watch not too long ago) and now not only do you pay for a service, but there are extras for streaming services if you pay for it.
Join a club with a blue bird logo for free but pay extra to get a check mark next to your name.
It’s everywhere.
We are a society of people with our eyes wide shut. We pay for the dumbest things out of fear of missing out.

I’m guilty of this.
Do I have streaming services. Sure.
Do I have “free” apps I use that I pay for, of course.
Do I have Microsoft office 365 which costs me yearly. Absolutely.

Ok that last one I need for work, but I remember buying it and that was the end of it.

Yea - real said isn't it? The first I remember of this crap was Cable TV. It was called Pay per View, as you probably already know. Gone were the movies that all came with the base service. Hopeless downhill from thereon.

Dude ...eyes wide shut for sure. We wouldn't leave our air conditioned houses to save our own lives. Lol.
