Electric

The public charging infrastructure is a weak spot, to be sure. There still remains a lot of improvement to be done on that front.

However, the severity of that issue depends on the owner. For me and how I would use an electric vehicle, I would charge it at home. I would rarely, if ever, need to use a public charging station. What's more, the normal driving I would do would not come close to (actually less than half of) the published range of any current EV. So, I simply would almost never need a public charging station.

I have a friend who has had a Tesla for a few years, and that is the same experience he has. He hardly ever pulls into a public charging station. It is all done from home.

But, for more in-town dwellers who may have to park in a parking lot, or the street, this could be a real issue, so my situation wouldn't apply to them. It really comes down to the individual user. There are some practical situations for which I think EV ownership is not a good idea at this time.

This brings up the electricity needed to charge an EV. The drastic figures often cited about how much electricity it takes to charge an EV are assuming a fully-depleted battery. So, that is essentially using a worst-case scenario, not actual case. In most cases, people aren't charging a fully-depleted battery. They will "top up" a battery when getting home for the day. So, the actual electricity consumed on a day-to-day basis will be far from the worst-case, fully-depleted, scenario.

But, even this depends on an individual user's own situation.

A bit envious. First Vette I ever sat in was a 69 at the local Chevy dealer….. about a year before I had drivers license. Always wanted a 69. Sorta settled on the 77.
I had it for 20 years, 1999-2019. Sold it when we moved from Anaheim Hills to this place in the mountains.

I just went electric and could not be happier..........

Ours is way lighter. 2 batteries, older 40 Volt system.

Sounds great. For my yard, the vast majority I cut with a lawn tractor, but I do some smaller areas with a push mower and string trimmer.
I do mow part of my drainage ditch with a push mower, so I'm pushing it up and down an incline, so it can't be too heavy.

I'll probably eventually replace the push mower and the string trimmer with electric. I think they have come a long way in the last few years.

2357 was a heavy duty 1157 with a stronger filament and internal bracing
Spent 40 years behind a parts counter. Ag/construction equipment. Finished up at a Marina. Don’t think we ever stocked the 2357, but over the years sure sold a lot of the 53, 57, 1156 and 1157 bulbs. At the Marina the LED replacements were just starting to come into play.

It is lighter, and I purchased the self propelled model so mowing is easy.

I am very fussy with my lawn, it cuts perfectly. I am mainly using the mulch function, but the other day we returned from holidays and I used the catcher as it was longish and slightly damp. No issues, did a better job than my old mower.

Interesting to hear. I bag all my grass clippings too, so that is something else that interests me. I'm glad to hear that that feature works well, too.
