15 year old Converse: indestructible

I've had these damn shoes for 15 years now, had them custom made from the Converse site back in 2007. They were part of Project (RED) which donated 15% of the proceeds to AIDS Global research. I think I paid about $70 for them which would make them the most expensive shoes I've ever bought ( im frugal, man lol). But they are built like a brick shïthouse and look as new as the day I got them which is insane the miles, time and abuse I've dished on them. Best shoes I ever got and a testament of what GOOD craftsmanship can do when someone actually tries to build something right.

They are a wild design but, I designed it so it's only me to blame, Red and Black Cheetah/Zebra print and allIMG_20221018_182303_(1000_x_1000_pixel).jpgIMG_20221018_182328_(1000_x_1000_pixel).jpg. Think I was going for some weird EVH look ( I dunno, I was 24 man. Hence the BADAZZMF logo which was a funny way to get past the censors lol)

Man, they must have a totally different process for custom orders (maybe a separate assembly line altogether). I used to wear All Stars more or less exclusively (easily wore them just about every day for 20+ years) but stopped wearing them shortly after production moved to China; they were far less comfortable, no longer had any grip in wet weather and I got no more than 6 months out of a pair before they fell apart. Maybe I need to look into this custom program.

Either way, good for you!!

I would agree on the regular production ones! I wore them for them years, had like probably 4 pairs of All-Stars and they got consistently worse each time until I just quit buying them. Usually the material would fade fast, rubber would begin to separate and like you said, traction was abysmal. I normally wear Adidas Campus these days but this odd ball pair of Converse somehow survived nearly 1/3 of my lifetime and I still wear them quite a good bit for some reason lol guess just to see exactly how far they will actually go before blowing out. But, can't seem to kill them lol

I'm sure they still do the custom order thing, haven't looked at that site in years. Used to be you just went there, clicked " Design your Own" and they'd do it for like $70, pretty much whatever you threw at them within reason and good taste lol. But hell, $70 won't get you much better than a stock pair now with the rising costs, which sucks

Said I wore the crap out of many pair’s of the CT all stars, Michael I am surprised as hell you have gotten so many miles out of those..

Cheers
They probably should be in a Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum among all of the other oddities. If not only for the unexplainable lifetime but the weird, mutant design pattern. Kinda like myself: butt ugly and old but resilient as hell lmao

When the NFL was celebrating their 75’th anniversary .. I got a Carolina Panthers T shirt through Castrol oil. I barely wear it, but it still looks like new.. along with my Kerry Collins team Jersey..
So some things do just last !!

Nice shoes, Mike! I've tried to wear Vans and flat/deck shoe's like so many times and it never worked out for me. Seems I need a little arch of a running or walking shoe to be comfy. Plus, I can't afford to lose the 1/2 inch out of my height wearing them. For God's sakes, they would me as tall as I am and we can't be havin' that now no way uh auh. Lol.

Very nice shoes though. I really DIG the material line vertical down the heal. ✌️

Oh, lay some of this in those separations to increase your miles! https://tinyurl.com/mp9db7kk
