Mic vol help….

I moved that amp there thinking it would be better for filming.

Usually one amp stays there and other one is set opposite side of the room. In my amps space there was bass amp ( which I moved) I cant move PA as its wired to the wall there.

In other rooms sound is worse, this room seems to be the best.

I have to turn it down to make vocals more auditable.

PA cant move? That's what I meant.
So... if PA speakers stay there then move everyone to face drums. At least speakers are behind mics. If they are full up and cannpt overdo drums then you need to unplug speakers from wall. Move them on floor in front of singer facing him amd get mew speaker cables to run from mixer.
Speakers always have jacks they won't be permanently wired to the wall.


Also, if you have to turn down to hear vox then do so.
 
I remember many years ago a group of young lads from my hometown started writing songs and wanted to be tye next big thing so they went out amd bought a big azz PA system not having a clue.
They couldn't make it work for them at all and asked another older local bandleader to help. They set up in a hall and he came over.
First thing he said was "Turn down the amps, you aren't playing a stadium or I can do nothing to help you". They were literally burying the entire PA with guitar amps.
Sadly there is no magic pill my friend.

Just be aware that you probably will have to dial in a sound that's quite different from the one you'd probably use when playing alone in your bedroom or whatever. That low end bassy stuff that really makes it "chug" has to go. At least a bit. In order to leave sonic space for the bass to fill and do it's thing. Otherwise it all turns to mud. And then nobody can hear themselves so they start sneakin' over to bump up their volume just a touch so they can hear themselves and in the process making it so you can't hear yourself anymore so you go and bump up yours a touch....and on and on lol

Pretty soon everybody's mad at each other and blaming one another and hell breaks loose lol

Yeah totally! Great point. More high end required on guitars at that point, less low. Don't compete with the bass.
Amd set it appropriately for the PA.

Been there already… i used to dial my pedal more bass more this then cant hear my self ( thinking this pedal is stupid lmfao)
Now, I back off the bass and push mids and highs to cut through….

We set levels but I noticed my guitarist being sneaky and keep turning it it up bit by bit during a song….
Those cabs at rehearsal they sound stupid… probably it has clock radio speakers from dinosaur era… and its a Marshall shell just to deceive us.

My guitarist hates Marshall so he has more reason to take piss out of me ;)

We only have 2H to play…. It will take too much time to move poop around… if it was my space I would set up different. Guess just have to turn down for time being.

If he feels he needs to turn up sometimes thennthe guitar cabs should be moved more to where one can hear themselves.
Sorry, i thought the space was yours. Moving spwakers is not an option. Are you getting feedback with the vocals at all?

Time to time we get feed back from mic but usually we sort it.

No place isn’t mine ( I wish it was )

He is usually standing next to it as you can see in the video.

I will film whole room when im next to show you whats up.

Yeah plus if it gets where it feeds back, you are done. Can't get any more out of it. So get those speakers as close as you can to the BACK of the mics. Maybe drums go at other end but likely part of the setup.

Exactly why I gave up on "my sound" about twenty five years ago. Yeah, I want to sound good.... But, the song is what needs to sound good, and that is more important.


Also, more from the peanut gallery regarding practicing in the round. Best to face each other, and work on amp and people placement. Then PA alignment. We have one speaker mounted on a pole so the drummer and bass player can hear some of the vocals. I have a wedge in front of me (which the bass player can also hear). Bass player has a mic opposite the pole mounted speaker. We don't have any feedback issues, and everyone can hear what's going on. Drums are loud. Acoustic 370 is also loud, but JBL Eons keep up like a champ.

That works. Those Eon are pretty good, yes, should do the trick! Sounds like a smart setup.

Well, feedback can be fought a little bit…you’ve mentioned mic vs speaker placement...simple rule: singers face any speakers that output their signal.(or keep it more than 45° off axis from the mic grill)

Yeah, practicing in the round... We just set up for an all-out-assault on the drummer…everything pointed in his general direction, except vocal monitor wedges…he deserved every decibel.

Yes once correct placement is found, EQ it and ring it out. Doesn't sound like any graphic there at all. At that point if proper setup, which is first of course, and feedback still occurs, it has reached the volume limit.
