R.I.P Queen Elizabeth II

When my wife and I heard that the Royals were on flights out to Scotland, we assumed things were getting close for the Queen.

I'm not much to follow the Monarchy but I feel pretty sad to see this day. I knew I would see it sometime in my life but didn't expect today. Rest in Power Your Grace.

She had one helluva run, longest reigning British monarch and 2nd longest of any sovereign monarch: that is an amazing feat. She had ruled longer than most of us have been walking this Earth and her reign was an institution we all knew. It's going to be very odd not seeing her and not referring to "The Queen". I hope King Charles III carries on a respectful legacy like she did, but it won't even come close honestly.

As a humble and contrite, rebellious ingrate to the crown ( aka all typical Americans by our very existence), I give nothing but the highest respect to her and her reign. Rest In PowerScreenshot_20220908-165622.png

Friends of ours are over in England for the Cricket matches, which have now all been canceled.
I imagine this will affect a lot of things over there, sorting out the next plan of action, organizing the funeral and procession ( which will be quite frankly, unparalleled) and then setting up the subsequent coronation of Charles ( though he ascended the throne immediately upon her passing, the formal ceremony will be held back quite some time). This is going to be kinda chaotic over there really.

My folks literally just got back from London a week ago actually

Most Americans scoff at the idea of a monarch, but you have to respect the Brits willing to stand in line 20 hours to pay their respects. To me, that's totally amazing.
