You email back and forth about a band position then they go AWOL after you send them a clip.

I was working on a singing position as sort of an amateur. I sent him the latest "Against all Odds" file I put up here then I didn't hear back. WaHoO!!!! :dance:

I will forever be a suck singer! Congrats to myself for at least achieving that. Lol.

Sad thing is I really thought that one sounded decent. I didn't expect a complete bail out of it. I RULE!! ...at sucking at singing - a true zero. As in ..Zero the Hero ..who was not at all a ,...hero. Nor will he ever be. :flame:

you learn, adapt and move on.... use this as stepping stone and motivation for improvement.



I was kicked out of 2 bands ( they said I was not good enough) and they done it by FB messenger... I was crushed like you, it did hurt not gonna lie.... and I stopped playing for 5 or 6 years.... then I said to myself Im going to prove them all wrong ant went at it and I have not stopped yet.

funny thing is.... When i was auditioning singer for my band ( current one ) Primal Damnation, my old singer got in touch with my drummer for singing position..... as soon as I found out I said hell no.......

He expected my reaction as we didnt end it on good terms.


moral of the story is, keep going and keep practicing everyday... one day they will be all crawling to you.....( trust me on that).

One can only suck when one never tries. You gave it a shot. This time it didn’t work out how you wanted. You worked hard to get the confidence to try. Dude. That’s a win no matter what. Keep at it. If for no other reason than those of us here with no talent can live vicariously thru you.
 
What kind of a band did you send “Against All Odds” to as an audition clip? Was it an appropriate choice for the band’s needs?
I don’t mean that in any sort of negative way…not everyone will accept talent in a package that they are not in to.
It definitely pays to be sure that you’re sending out relevant material choices to auditions.

Thanks guys. It was appropriate since they actually do "In the Air Tonight". It was fine as far as that goes. Thanks for the support and saying I don't suck too. Singing is a f'n emotional rollercoaster I tell ya. One day seems great and then the next sucks. All good though ..at least today. Lol.

Oh yeah. One day I pick up the guitar and play a song I’ve been playing. Absolutely nail it. Pick it up the next day. Play the same song…. And go “what the heck did I just kill??” We all have good days and bad days.

I'm no pro, but I've been playing and in bands since approx. 1977.

You're doing great and improving with every new post. Keep up the good work.
 
How do I know when I suck?

I listen to something I recorded, that's how.

And it provides inspiration to keep on going, get better, stop doubting.

Just do your thing, your own thing, and sooner or later you will meet the right musical partners.

The rest don't matter.
 
Alright so I'm gonna go the typical Mike/Street Level style on this one: F&@# 'em then!

You definitely don't suck and are better than you give yourself credit for. Any band that doesn't have the basic decency or the sack to tell someone they don't want to move forward with a potential new member, probably ain't a band you want to be a part of anyways: bunch of diva-asses.

There will definitely be more opportunities for you, as this world is in no short supply of guitar players but there is a definite deficiency is bassists, drummers and a front man it seems. Keep your head up and your ears and eyes open!
