The Muse I Adorn

Well…it’s getting close to the ten year mark…since I installed my first Stetsbar. Finally, I’ve set it free to float on this guitar for the first time. I remember trying out a Stetsbar for the first time. It was on a Reverend guitar, at a local shop…the same shop I found this SG in. I remember how smooth and glassy it felt, and how well it stayed in tune. Since, it seems, my band is doing nothing anymore, I have come to realize that there is no longer a “stage rush” for me to change tunings…I can take my time these days…or just bring a hard tail to switch to.;)
Anyway…this floating Stetsbar thing, I can finally say in my opinionated way, is a really beautiful thing. An octave dive, a third up, and all the shimmer in between. It actually holds tune really well.

Finally got back to this one.
When I put it together, I eyeballed the action height and intonation, and played it.
It was ok, but could use some fine tuning.
Last night I dialed in the intonation and brought the action down a little.
The neck relief is just right.

Really nice playing and sounding guitar.
Feels right in my hands too.

I have a couple that need the action addressed. Just too lazy to attack.

Have been looking at those for years. I've got several guitars that might just love one.
If only they weren't quite so pricey. Someday, when I have a little more cash available for mods...
My problem is, every time I get a little saved up, a cool guitar falls into my lap.

Yeah…I needed something that I could run “decked” so that I could easily drop-tune. The Stetsbar was the ticket for me. I only grabbed a second one, for my V, because I had an empty husk to work with. I was going to be spending money on something to use as a bridge and tailpiece…so…from that perspective, the Stetsbar wasn’t “that much” more. But yeah…the first one was a bit pricey. I’ve recovered though. Good luck! If you do decide to take the plunge…

Yah, if a good bridge & tailpiece were required, saving on those would bring a Stetsbar more within reach.
Even compared with upgrading to a premium quality bridge like Faber or Callaham, it begins to look more affordable.
Thanks for sharing that perspective.

Playing the ES-335 through my '73 Marshall 1987 and and two '72 Lead Bass cabs. Lots of fun, and no real practical use right now, but it's good to stay sharp and know how to control the guitar and amp with that much power. And, it feels good to have your clothes blown around by the eight 12" Celestions. Damn good fun for a GibSunday.

I’m still hanging onto the Stetsbar on this(still set to float), with a little assistance…

The little Spark Mini, beside my chair, actually still sounds pretty good to me…
I got a couple of magnetic hooks to attach to the wood stove, beside me, for handy cable and strap hangers…no photos of that tonight…maybe next time ;)

Alright…I decided to put down the guitar, and take another photo…

…As you can see, I’ve got handy places to hang my patch cable, and a strap now. Yay! I can also just be lazy in my chair, and have everything within easy reach…also Yay! But I need to change out my strings, and clean and oil my fretboard on this one…

The Firefly FFLX is even better with the Well-Hung Dragon Eye strap!
I think this is a great pairing.
Plus, most of my other straps are too short for guitars that have the forward strap button on the neck heel.

My other 2 Well-Hung straps are on guitars with similar strap button location.
I have one or 2 too-short straps that may be worthy of Brad's old school Stapmaster strap locks, as they add a little length.
Gotta check.

Your assistant looks like you are well under control.

Love the Fort Knox locking system. (y)

Nice guitars and beautiful kitty also. (y) (y)

I have not picked up an LP in several months; just been playing through some of my others, (some have recent upgrades), and the recently acquired.
I dig my other guitars, but for me I call my the LP types "home".

Switched over to the EX style for some play throughs in Eb.
Really dig it and glad I got it, and the Vs too.

Owning and playing different types is part of the hobby for me.
I have a couple I need to place sale ads for; I'm not looking to amass a large collection.
