My wife and I have discussed at length what our plans are for the future once my kids are all out of High School and the house. We are planning on moving abroad. That got me wondering about my current guitar gear and what would be the best for myself once that comes around.
I'm mostly a collector. I don't play live or jam with friends, so it's all bedroom playing. I have my killer 667 that I modified with a matching 412 cabinet, and my Crate stack with a head that I modified. Last is my JKD head that I've loved since I bought it from T-Rex.
What I'm contemplating is eventually selling off the big items, such as my Randall 1/2 stack, and the Crate full stack, and going straight digital. That would eliminate the need to move big items and items that are not going to be set up for foreign power. My idea was to use the money to fund a digital setup such as a Quad Cortex, or just go straight Plug-ins. Also, I could buy one of the guitars I've been drooling over for years, made out of Italy.
The selling won't be easy on me since I really dig out of the ordinary gear. The Randall head is an art piece for sure, and the 412 cabinet was a rare cabinet to boot, being a Paul Stanley signature cab. The Crate cabinets are the most difficult to let go of. Billy Gibbons signature unreleased prototypes.
The plans were start to be set in motion in quite a few years, probably four or five at the earliest. But, still has things on my mind.
