Cataract Surgery Tomorrow

Scary stuff!

Jeez man they even gave me a Valium before my vasectomy, and I could choose to look away from that if I wanted. I might imagine having a procedure done on the eyeball would make it impossible to look away, and thus the procedure might very well be even better justification for the use of anxiolytic sedatives! Can't believe they gave you nothing at all!

Is there a huge difference in your sight now? (For the one eye?)

Had the day after follow up today and they said everything looks good. It will be a month or so before I see any real progress. Right now the dilation drugs have worn off but everything in that eye is painfully bright. All normal, according to them. What bothers me is I have to have the second eye done next week, so I won't have normal vision for the next five weeks.

Shouldnt they wait a month before doing eye 2?

@Far Rider take care bro ,, sucks they wouldn’t let the driver you wanted to line up and give you the ride home take place , so that you could have gotten a sedative, or knocked out for the procedure..

Cheers

I think I'm starting to see (pun intended) positive results. In doing a side by side comparison, the right eye is getting much clearer and colors are much more defined. In fact, my reading glasses are getting to be non-effective due to the imbalance. I can watch TV now without them. I was told by a lot of people that my surgeon was one of the best in the area. I'm believing them now. All this and only being 36 hours out of the surgery.

Awesome.

Great news!

The ”imbalance” is why I said that you should be happy once you are done with both eyes. For some, the imbalance is the hardest part to deal with.

The day of the surgery they gave me a pair of what I used to call Old People's Sunglasses. The kind that wrap around with shields on the side and are very dark. I can't do without them now. The right eye hasn't adapted to the extra light yet, and with surgery next week they are going to be indispensable. I have worn Serengeti Drivers sunglasses forever. The thought of having to give them up is bittersweet. They just aren't dark enough. But to be able to see like I did in my 30's...

The sensitivity to light will wear off.... or from what I've been told. You'll just need to give it some time.

Maui Jim shades with the grey lenses and the bi-gradient silver mirror coating are amazingly comfortable when properly selected and fitted.

At least it went well and that’s what’s important.

Had mine done a year ago September. The cataract was so thick it required removal of the whole lens, and inserting a new one. Even better, the new lens is ground to allow close up vision without glasses, still need them for far sight stuff.
i was terrified before the surgery, i only have one eye, other is glass. Doc never bandaged me, just the soup strainer for two weeks or so. B&W to color, more or less. i was shocked at how bad my vision had really become.
Best of luck.
