Bandmix is not my fav but I am meeting a bass player next week. I have not had a single music interaction since 2017 .
I always had drummer options before I moved.

I am a little concerned about doing any covers.
I don’t do them and the ones I do no one knows.
We are set for Electric Funeral. Not bad for me except maybe the bridge part.

I plan to play UFO “Natural Thing”
and Judas Priest Green Manalishi
Honestly I don’t do covers.

Any words of wisdom ?

I hope to at least get the core of a band together. Not to Shure about gigging yet.

I dont do covers either but we have learned to call out key or scale, just get the motor running with bass & drummer & guitar part is much the easiest part to ad lib in.

I think now it’s hard to just do originals. Cover bands make money but I see guys doing long sets.

Covers are cool. I personally enjoy covers that are slightly different than the original with the band’s personal touches and embellishments. But some songs are too iconic to change in that way. Take Pretty Woman when Van Halen covered that song. They embellished the poop out of that song.
A band doing originals can sneak in the cover song and make it their own, which as I said, I find cool!

Tribute bands on the other hand, better sound like the band they are covering.
Nothing is worse that a tribute band that comes “close”.

My friends band does originals, they also do covers when they perform.

Well last Monday it was suppose to happen he texted , asked if I was cool if we passed so he could hang with the fam. and of course man . Family first unless you’re a rock star . Lol
We will be back on in 2 weeks after my vacation!
