Marshall Neanderthal by Ivanberg - Build Thread:

This is a cabinet made by Guitar Cabinets Direct. All I did here, was add some finishing washers to those oval head screws. A couple years ago, I ordered a combo 1x12 cab from GCD, and those oval head screws were used to secure the back panels. Without those finishing washers for the oval head screws, the screws can easily be driven too deep through the tolex and through the thin and soft wood of the back panels. Plus... the finishing washers makes the hardware look more, uhm, finished... :rolleyes2:

Everything Greg touches turns to gold.

Should be interesting what the B + 1 voltage under load will be ?? the last set I got from Marstran
was lower than past orders.
Yeah. I won't know till I power up the PT. Notice that Marstran's wiring diagram doesn't show the spec for the HT voltages before the rectifier:

Since the set of Marstran transformers isn't expected to arrive till late June, Robert's future 2204 project is going into hibernation. I think the head cab should be here in a month though, and I'll do a test fit with the chassis and cab as soon as the cab arrives.

It took from March until July!!!!!

So.... This amp has been completely assembled, and fired up with no drama. The trio of Genalex Gold Lion CV4004's proved to be excessively noisy in V1 and V2 positions. Not sure if it's a defect with these tubes, or that they are allergic to the 2204 circuit. I have temporarily substituted a Sovtek 12AX7LPS in V2 and a Mesa STR12AX7A, which is a rebranded short plate JJ 12AX7/ECC83S, in V1. Amp is purring along, but still needs a proper bias.

Do you think I'm sexy?
