Can anyone identify this wood?

I think it might be Cocobolo or Mexican Kingwood?

It's at least 12 years old. It's very tight grained and very heavy!

It looks like a darker red in real life. The photos look a little too brown.

The shot of the end grain is the true color.

Got it from a friend. He doesn't remember what it is. He's been storing it for over 12 years. I don't believe it's walnut due to the very red color and super tight grain when you see it in person.

I've had a couple knife makers guess Bubinga. One strongly belies it's Cocobolo that has aged and gotten a darker red.

I have that new 17" bandsaw coming on Thursday or Friday. I'll cut it up then and see what color it holds inside...

I sanded it to check the smell and it was almost a cinnamon smell.

If it was Brazilian, it would smell like chocolate while cutting it.

The colors vary quite a bit. The darker board in this photo is Brazilian.
