My first set of INFs left a really bad taste in my mouth as when I ran them through my old JCM900>Carvin 412 stack they came thru very, very thin. This set doesn't seem to do that at all (I also ran these ones thru my JCA100HDM>Randall 412 and had similar results)

You hit on a couple really good points, how a person mixes the tracks ultimately makes it sound good or bad. And buried in a mix it's hard to discern a lot of things.

Also I'd add that the same pickup in 2 exact same guitars can sound very different. That's what makes it so much fun! And takes so much time and money wiring pickups in and yanking them back out. I love doing it.

I've taken pickups out of guitars where they sounded horrible and stuck them in other guitars and they sound amazing, and vice versa as well.

Yep. And, it seems to me at least, that pickups can be like speakers. I can have one set of V30s and replace them in the exact same rig with another set of V30s and not have the exact same sound. With speakers, I get the cone break in period as a cause of this, not sure how that works with pickups other than very minor variations in magnet and wire that could lead to it? Dunno, honestly, but have certainly heard it happen.

Yes sir, the hunt for speakers is another really fun wormhole to venture into! I think it has a lot more to do with tone than pickups and wood to be honest.

That sums me up as well.

I think we all go through phases of artistic effort and inspiration.

Sometimes we have things going on pretty well, and sometimes it's just a dry spell.

I broke out the LP tribute tonight, I've decided the covered pickups make it a lot darker, so I used the 805 and the Firebrand with trebles maxed out!
