This guitar was on its way to Nashville session player David Langely and I wanted to put new strings on it for him.

While handling the guitar, it slipped from my grasp and the tip of the headstock hit the cement floor. The one-piece mahogany neck broke cleanly....

Oh, FUNGUS!!!
Most likely.

A huge letdown and a testament to me constantly trying to make things better than they need to be....and ofttimes making things worse.
Hey, Rob... don't knock yourself down, accidents (a.k.a. :poo: ) happen to the best of us!

Yep!... Splittin' necks, a Gibby exclusive feature!!

I wrapped the truss rod head with heavy plastic paper, specifically, the tag from an orchid. I filled the break with glue and worked it into the hole with a folded sheet of paper.

After that, I clamped it and cleaned the excess...then pulled out the orchid tag.

Time will tell....

Truss rod remains free, which is a huge positive. The weights help bend the break closed. String tension will also pull the break closed.
