Ambassador of Strings & Wings
Well its been almost 4 weeks since I purchased Elvira, Gretsch G5220 BT Jet and I have to say I like her a lot! When I first brought her home my Wife said what a beautiful guitar! I have to say the build quality is impressive to say the least. Nobody would know by looking at this beauty, it was made in China unless you saw the back of the headstock.
The quality of the wood, the fit and finish is as good , if not better than some American made guitars i have seen and played. The Broadtron pickups are fantastic! and from what i have found out made in Korea. The chrome plating on the bridge , knobs, v-tail, the tuning keys around the pickups are flawless. The fretboard is straight, frets level and the intonation bang on. The 3 way switch is solid. The Laurel fretboard is dark and rich looking, the inlays are a
very nice feature on this guitar. Is the hardware the best you can get, no it isn't, but i can tell you it works and looks good, and it stays in tune as well. Would i change anything on this guitar, absolutely not! Its a great player stays in tune is not heavy, has great looks and sounds heavenly. Now i want to tell you about the tones from these Broadtron pickups, now i am going to put in here what Gretsch publishes about these pickups, because they do exactly
like they say. I can't say enough about these pickups and the playability of this guitar. Its a winner in my book, This guitar is worth much more than what i paid for it, a lot of guitar for the money!! I have wanted a Gretsch in my lineup, and now i am a proud owner of this one.
