I really don't want this to become a business though. I will make knives for a reasonable price, but I won't take a dime in advance and have people shaking my cage asking where their knife is!

That is a piece of spalted wood dyed green. The orange end is epoxy resin. When you have wood that won't make a handle on its own you infuse it with epoxy, and this is what you get!
