Did they -- or did they just rip off a JAPANESE guitar which came first the Theodore or the TULIP ??? Teisco started in 1946 kiddies......

Interesting point. I don’t ascribe the idea of obsolescence to musical instruments, though. I’m guessing that’s what the “plesiosaur” statement means. Instruments are what they are.

Another option could be a mini-humbucker in the bridge and a P-90 in the neck. I’d like that.
Firebird pickup at the bridge, and a P-90 at the neck. Like Ol' Black.
 
Not thank you, not at $5K. Maybe at $500 though. I wonder whether Epiphone is considering a version?
I bet that model at an Epi price could be a hit with the retro crowd.

I think Gibson is testing the waters with this. This is a limited run. The collector class will likely show the most interest. If this proves successful, they may follow up with lower-priced Gibson-branded versions and even lower-priced Epi models.

I'm looking at this as sort of a marketing proof-of-concept.
