Gibson Had A New Idea?

Pretty interesting.

Upon reading the article, I wish they would have stuck with Ted McCarty’s original control layout scheme.

But, it’s got kind of a quirky, ‘60s vibe thing. I kind of like it.

All jokes aside its kind of ahead of its time. The hockey stick headstock from the Explorer on that small body, double cutaways and two single coils could easily be seen as a predecessor to anything from Charvel/Jackson/Kramer/ESP

I hope this stays as just a P-90 platform and doesn’t end up with dual humbuckers, ‘cuz Gibson has already done that to death!

$5000...

Another plesiosaur with P90 pickups?

Interesting point. I don’t ascribe the idea of obsolescence to musical instruments, though. I’m guessing that’s what the “plesiosaur” statement means. Instruments are what they are.

Another option could be a mini-humbucker in the bridge and a P-90 in the neck. I’d like that.

It means that it's shaped like a fish. (as opposed to a shrimp fork)

I dont hate it.
At first glance, the hockey stick headstock doesn't fit to me only because my preconceived notion is it doesn't belong.
But, I like it overall.

While I like the tulip shaped body, my first thought was the cutaways remind me of thalidomide baby flippers.
I know that sounds harsh, but thats what I thought of.

Talks to the sensible side of Gball.

HEY G, you been there, done that. THEN you sold all your non LP guitars. Just sayin.

I know man. It makes no sense, but this bizarre thing is so ugly and strange I don't think I could avoid it - but not at CS prices. Sure, i'd probably eventually sell it but you never know until you live with a guitar for a while.
