Did anyone stock up on tubes/valves

That's hopeful news @ivan H ! On the flipside, there's this...

And the price of Russian tubes (existing USA stock) has doubled tripled in the last few weeks.

That's gotta hurt since the majority of Electro Harmonix tubes are Russian tubes.
Some are from China but not many of them.
All of the reissue tubes:
mullard
Tungsol
Gold lion
were all being produced in Russia by Electro Harmonix partners.

And that's gotta hurt too since all of the Groove Tubes used by Fender in new amplifiers were from Russia.

Prices are going up in the UK.
A few days ago a JJ EL34II from Hot Rox was £18.
Now £24!

I've had to be frugal, but I've ordered a matched pair of JJ EL34II power tubes and one balanced ECC83S for phase inverter (and any other position).

Considering I have never blow a tube, and only have a DSL40CR and a Valvestate VS65R, they should get me through whatever for the next few years.

Damn, I went to the Aussie vendors sites that I had not long purchased the tubes I previously mentioned. Most power tubes, including JJ's are now out of stock, & what they do have is twice the price. I did get a quad of EHX fat bottle (Beam Tetrode) 6CA7's & some more 7025's & 12AX7's. Lucky I listened to @67plexi & got in early. Cheers
Edit:
Just purchased another NOS duet of Blackburn Mullard (single halo getter) xf2 EL34's from a vendor I regularly use too. Cheers

I just noticed Kemper’s new floor model. It’s got great reviews and some prefer it to a Fractal. The price is in line with pro tube amps.

If things get so tubes are completely out of reach, that’ll be on my list.

Or, the Peavey will get put back into service!

But, I’m not severe on my gear (I get extra points for rhyming!), so I think I’m good for quite awhile.

One type that is still available here is the 6550. EHX, JJ, Svetlana & Tung Sol, duets & quads of all.
I've fitted 6550's to others amp on request, but never used them. Just wondering, what is people who do use them's preferred brand out of these types (so I have an idea which to get)? Cheers

EHX...

My first Marshall 2204 was stock with 6550 back in 1979 never liked the sound of that amp then tried EI KT90 didn't help
bad amp design sold it got a 1967 Black Flag wonderful amp. New production I like the Tong-Sol 6550
My Park 75 has GEC KT88 loud as hell but sounds good.

The SSS 150 build used TS 6550

Cleaned out Sweetwater and ZZounds today :celebrate2:
Yeah, I went to the Peavey website to see what was left in stock...nothing.

And I remember in 1970 basically the same thing, everybody stopped making tube amp parts.
They thought that transistors would make vacuum tubes obsolete.
But yet here it is 50 years later and we're still trying to buy more....even for a higher price.

Nope, tube amps are not obsolete...............just more popular than ever....even for a higher price.
