Doc’s Kitchen Remodel

When we bought this place in Oct 2019 it was a second home. Built in 1991 it was in great shape but just dated in some areas. Once we decided to retire and sell our Anaheim Hills home in March 2020 and retire here we knew a few upgrades were in our future. So after 18 months of working on finishing the basement and studio we took on doing the kitchen remodel.

Here’s the kitchen when we bought it. Typical 1990’s CA style, honey oak cabinets and 4x4 white tile.

Some of you might remember a little BBQ issue we had in June 2020. That led to replacing the 3 south facing original windows with one large modern one.

So around October of last year we started on the kitchen demo.

Don, you didn't do all that kitchen work yourself?

Now I know why I am not seeing your little orange helpers.
No, a man has to know his limitations, and cabinetry is not in my wheelhouse. I had a cabinet guy do almost everything based on our design. I did the small electrical work of moving the outlets up into the cabinets and I put outlet strips on the bottom of the cabinets. It gives the tiles a nice uncluttered look.

The same guy is doing cabinets for our mud room. Should have them installed within the next month.

Notice the main intent of my reply was not really the presence of outside professional help, but your missing little orange helpers who helped with the dishwasher install.
