I have a 77 Vette. Late 70s was the epitome of underpowered American V8s. One of the last years for carburetors. Still have that Vette. Parked next to it in the garage is my 07 Civic.

Vette - 180hp and 3500lbs @ 12mpg
Civic - 140hp and 2700lbs @ 35+ mpg

Do the math. Basically equal hp to weight.
