"Now, now, Biddlin...there's no need to go there."

Sorry, I thought this was the tone rooms and you guys could take a joke.

Yup. I've been doing that with Strats forever. Maestro vibrolas same deal.

Hahaha! I didn't realize that was a trick/secret!
My guitars come out of their cases, to acclimate, before I set up PA at every gig. It doesn't matter to me if it has a trem or not, it keeps me from being out of tune by the second or third song. Old habits...glad to know I'm not alone.

I believe may have been some signature model.....
Tulsa born guitarist Anne Erin "Annie" Clark is better known as St. Vincent.

Sterling St Vincent STV60 Electric Guitar

I find that intriguing...............played one with a Rosewood neck I believe may have been some signature model......very nice

Not a very aesthetic guitar, but as a engineer, you can see how comfortable the design would be for the female anatomy. Since women generally appreciate beautiful things, such as art and architecture, I would bet money that guitar's appeal is in how comfortable it is to play...

The b-bender. The device that caused Jimmy Page to play some of the most embarrassing music ever.

That's super bad!
Only recently I saw my first b-bender and was ambivalent.
Then saw a vid featuring Marty Stuart promoting it's virtue.
Finally had a private conversation with Adrian about b-benders ... thanks Adrian for pointing me in the right direction.
I didn't buy one haaa haaa haaa.

Bid, did you miss this?

My biggest complaint is the troll picture he used. I look nothing like that. The hair color is all wrong and I don't have any dental issues like that! Also, I'm nowhere near that hairy, and my face has NEVER been blue! I could go on....

But, what's a guy gonna do!

I got the joke. But, I gotta poke the bear just a little bit!

Modern Les Paul Axcess Custom Rhino

"The modern player's choice is reimagined with new design elements and new skin in this limited Modern Les Paul Axcess Rhino Series. It features classy Custom appointments, the new Apex headstock carve for added strength, redesigned back contours for added comfort and a beautiful Rhino Gray finish created specifically for this model. The result is an extremely versatile, playable and fun Les Paul model unlike any other."
Belly cut and volute.

Allow me to try to get myself back on topic with this.

Whereas I don't dislike the appearance of this and actually think it's kind of cool, I don't think this would be any more successful at reducing headstock breaks than Gibson's earlier volute (if that is the intention behind this). The reason I say this is that the headstock breaks often occur where the grain runs out, which is well ahead of the ribbed portion in this new design.

Here's a pic of my '74 SG. The arrow points to where the break occurred. The other lighter colored lines that look like cracks are just finish check-cracks.

Personally.......I dont really care what method they use so long as the damn headstock stays in place.

With the exception of an SG in 1986 that the headstock broke off during a CAR WRECK (I think any ---un cased-- guitar in the MASSIVE trunk of a 69 Impala being violently thrown about with other gear.......in a collision ....would probably have suffered damage).......the bass didnt---- but --- ITS A BASS....and the headless Steinberger guitar well ....didnt have a headstock to break off.......and was in a soft case....SO ....the SG was the weakest link.
---and the Harmony LP copy from Sears I DROPPED as a 10 year old and broke the headstock---

OTHER than those pieces of youthful ignorance......I have yet to break a headstock as a responsible adult.....regardless of manufacturing process

thank you

Come to think of it the bass probably KILLED the SG ........hhhmmmm

I can't/don't use a B-bender. I have to say though, that some guitarists do use it to great effect. If you get a chance to see Gene and his beautiful wife, Meridian Green, go for it. Gene's association with the Byrds and other 60's rock legends is very apparent in his folk/rock style and Meridian, daughter of country legend Bob Gibson (Abilene) brings a very traditional folk approach. Thought Adrian might enjoy seeing Gene's workshop.
