Got Asked To Play at Fontana Speedway's NASCAR Event Today:

Wow. On a few levels. Thanks Line 6 for that! Smokin good amp! :D
The shortest time I have ever had between was like 15 mjnutes. Still, with board all prewired it doesn't take long to set up. One would think if they had a mic sitting to mic a cab that it would be as easy especially given that the line out level will vary quite a bit depending on amp settings between bands.
Sounds like experience paid off!

15 minutes would be like a vacation!

It's been good in many ways in that I've learned a lot about my own sound and my own capabilities. Working with these various amps/cabinets makes me appreciate how feedback free my pedalboard/rig is. We got a custom hand-wired 50 watt master volume with an FX loop and resonance control in the works...

Well?

How did it go?

Any videos of it?

It went well. We didn't get video per se. I think one of our friends might have got video of a couple of songs and I will check with him.

Some of the younger student bands got video and some Fox TV coverage, which are the real "Rockstars" of the event.

My role is support musician, backing vocals and getting the student bands as much exposure as possible.

So, I wanted to share this with all of you...

This past Saturday, I played our event with my 2021 Gibson les Paul 50's Standard and my "Slash/AFD Chibson" Les Paul that I got from @Esge back in 2019. The 2021 Gibson has a BB3 in the bridge and still has the original strings that were on it when I brought it home on November 2021.

The "Chibson" has been fully copper shielded and is fitted with a Gotoh Aluminum Tailpiece, Gotoh ABR-1 bridge, and Gold Grover Keystone Tuners. It has also been fitted with a 21 tone 'Jimmy Page' style wire harness (courtesy of Jersey Shore Guitars) with all USA made components. The pickups are courtesy of Jose at Planet Tone. The bridge is an "Afterburner" and the neck is a '59 Special." The Chibson is tuned to D standard and is used for a couple of songs form our setlist that require that tuning.

The 2021 Gibson is setup to factory specs and has not been touched since leaving the factory. The Chibson (like all guitars I work on) was set up to factor Gibson published specifications.

I was switching between guitars Saturday (as required) and the feel is identical and the tone (when I am not using the 21 tone harness) is indiscernible between the two guitars. The only way I can really tell a difference on stage is the 2021 Gibson is heavier, but both guitars are equally reliable in a live performance situation and I would reach for either one with absolute confidence.

I am very pleased with my 2021 Gibson and I have always wanted one, but I think that any good guitar is a good guitar...
