Happy Birthday, Col.!

Wow, that's weird... everywhere I wrote "*censored*" the website removed the word.
So if you read my post above, I'm talking about C*o*v*I*d in parts of it.

Someone made a decision not to allow us to talk of the p*a*n*d*e*m*I*c... I don't know why.
After all, it's something that's had a huge effect on all of our efforts as musicians.
Like it destroyed all the gigs. Lots of places we used to play will never open again.
Festivals are foundering, concert series are on hold... only an idiot would go out and
share air with a bunch of crazies and get splattered with body fluids from who knows who.

So here I am, on the beach. Lucky to be alive. I'm very very grateful, my friends, for everything.
Glad to hear you are still alive and kicking Michael. To avoid an online debate between vaxers and antiv-axers from turning into a flame fest, we made the decision to keep this forum focused on music. There are plenty of other places to make a political stand on the topic.

okay, okay... I get that part. but it's like ignoring the 900 lb gorilla in the middle of the room... if you're a musician.
Personally, I don't think it's political at all, it kills people no matter who they voted for. And it shut down the venues
for all of us, no matter what type of music we prefer. ...or would play if we could get an audience to show up.

But I won't belabor the point. People come to a forum like this to get away from the viciousness of our political divisions
and I understand that. We might as well create a dream world where you can still buy a brand new
Les Paul Standard Classic Traditional Deluxe Studio Dark Tribute Flame Top Pro V Aged Limited Edition
VOS ReIssue Special Anniversary Murphy Lab Custom Darkback Prophecy Quilt Top...
and get enough gigs to make it pay for itself. ...only $9000... price reduced!

Wouldn't that be nice? I'd vote for that. As a matter of fact, I did. *grins
Thanks for letting me in the ambassador's lounge!
I'm sure I've got "Diplomatic Immunity"

@Col Mustard Having seen your axes from another forum, your SG gave me the GAS to build Burla. Your ES-339 Pro with P-90s gave me the GAS to buy my own. You sir are responsible for me GASing for 2 of my guitar acquisitions. Seeing as you are already the Colonel of Mustard, I see your Mustard and raise you a GAS. Upgrading you to the Ambassador of Mustard GAS.
Whatcha think?

oh you guys can call me what you will, but Mustard Gas was a terrible thing, and I'd hate to be associated with it.
How about the ambassador of perseverance? I'm thinking of writing a memoir, called: 44 years on the road.

I actually did that. Davie and I got started in 1975. We were still touring in 2018 and I retired in 2019
not because my perseverance failed, but because my new career was to be caregiver for my Cindy,
and I persevered with that for a year and a half until she passed and that career ended too.

All those years gigging with the same pardner counts for something, IMHO. Only a few other
groups can point to perseverance of that caliber. Especially in the absence of wealth and fame.

Perseverance in the absence of rich rewards might be considered OCD, or fanaticism or blind faith
or other vices. But we regard our career as a success. We did get paid, and we were able to make
all our recordings pay for themselves, and I have some change left over yet, so we weren't totally
unrewarded. I have no regrets. But I never poisoned anybody.

Look at these guys... each of them looking through time and saying
"Man, you look ridiculous!"
Youth laughs at age, and vicey versey...

I will second this
Ambassador of Mustard Gas
I don't care for it... what I want to know is,
How d'ye like your Epi ES-339?

Mine still rings like a bell.
Caledonia 2022@100.jpeg
Doesn't she seem like the perfect size for an electric guitar?
Mine's heavier than my SG, she weighs about 8 lb like a Telecaster.
But that's not a crippling load. She balances perfectly, stays in tune,
she has beautiful woody jazzy tone in the neck p'up and the bridge p'up
is pure rock an roll. I usually play in the middle position, mixing those
tones. I sold all my "vintage" instruments and some others, but I could
NOT bear to part with Caledonia, my Epi blonde bombshell.

I have an "F"ing guitar or 2
PEavey JF1EX (it weights as much as a Lester --full size 335 body)
and a GROTE that is very light (thin line body and full hollow)
Grote "jazz hollow"
