Also am I getting that your only Harley experience is with the old sidecar back in 1974 or so from the look of the pic and your buds what 5-10 year old Buell?

I'll save these for now,will add my 2006 HONDA Shadow & 1989 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Hugger when I can get to them. I also for a couple years would trade my bud my Green Sportster there for a weekend a month for his Night Train because I have a big comfy seat & backrest for my Sportsters for the long rides & my bud would get his son and liked to use my bike for that more than his Night Train. I also use to ride my old Boss's Deluxe and his $100K Custom Chopper. Grew up riding Suzuki & Kawa dirt bikes.
I will add I use to work in a Kawasaki/Suzuki/Yammi dealership in Biloxi,MS building Jet Ski's and testing them in the Gulf of Mexico

"Almost" everything I ever say on a forum is half joke with a splash of opinion.
My comments have been formed from working in the motorcycle industry, tar track racing and living and breathing everything motorcycle since 1967.

So really it had nothing to do with the Harley motor in the Buell

In case gasket or anyone thinks my reply so far was aimed at taking offense to anything gasket said bad about Harleys or any other brand, it wasn't anything personal. In my case, I like ALL motorcycles even home made ones or broken ones. SO, for my position, I currently ride a Harley since 2001,a Honda since 1985, and a Kawasaki 2 stroke Motocrosser. If I had more money and time, I would have all manner of bikes from the oldest of old to 2017 high tech ones.

In our case gasket, I think we all here are linked closely enough loving guitars, fast cars, music, women, good food, beer for some, scotch for others, Milk here,,,,,,,, and all manner of fun stuff we share, I think it keeps misunderstandings and friction to a minimum.

Anything you say and or 1/2 intend as humor is alright in our book.
We are a pretty resilient bunch.

I never had a problem with my Harley, I did however have one with the Triumph, every night I had to put a basting pan under it and then pour all the oil that leaked out it back in the morning.

Well glad you all have good luck with Harleys --- mine was a GIANT P.O.S. vibrated apart on a good day ---couldnt keep up with my wifes suzuki 805 crusier to save its life.....parts rattled off of it (92 rigid mount 1200 Sportster) and the END was when the back brake locked up and tank slapped in P'cola Fl.
NO it wasnt rider error ----- as the 3 HARLEY shops I took it to and had it looked at claimed (been riding since I was 10 I dont intercourse lock up a back break unless I want to) after I sold the rattle death trap ----low and behold 2 years later HARLEY has a recall seems 3 people where KILLED from the back breaks LOCKING UP on certain models of sportsters and softails........
HEy ride em if you want --- your funeral---I never will--

maybe in climates where they only get used 4 months outta the year they are great down here in the HOT muggy south with 365 riding weather........not worth it IMHO ---- like the Gibson of Motorcycles....... OH !

Oh and P.S. the bike was immaculate the previous owner polished more than rode it-----had less than 1700 miles when I bought it in 98 what they really are for IMHO---polishing and looking at.....-
it is still one of my favorite bikes to look at--- gorgeous lines......looks like a bulldog ready to kill someone---oh yeah the guy on it......duh.
