NGD content: The Waiting ----- according to Gball is the hardest part

"... and the paying for" ( according to me)
Here is something I have been waiting for for 30 years, ever since I sold my first ever guitar of my own. My 1979 BLACK LP STD. ( for reference sake, I only guess at the details since I bought it used, it had no " STANDARD" on the TRC and no Pick Guard. Just going by memory and other details of it's BLACK beautiness.

THIS BABY is the closest I could come to my original baby without spending almost 4g's for a guitar I bought for $350 around 1983 and sold for $425 less than 10 years later in 1991.
And now for a guitar I have kept basically on the Q T. due to not wanting to JINX anything till it arrived at my door. ( I lost a similar year one in Natural due to some screwy circumstances just 2 weeks ago)

Here she is at the Sam Ash in Miami.

I took it out of the box and did a quick look at it to make sure it was in one piece and was the right guitar, then shut the case up and am waiting till after I get back from my visit with mom in the nursing home.

I will have to say, IT will sure look sweet next to it's Epi cousin.

FYI and call for help/info/insights.

This guitar by all research I have done so far has it as made in the Kalamazoo factory n 1979. It has a Double cream T Top in the neck and a Dimarzio in the bridge ( swapped in there).
I've learned back in '79, Gib was making guitars in Kalamazoo and Nashville, and a run of 1500 KM's were put out from the KAL factory. Reports have it that they had a pair of the double cream T Tops and a " Custom Made" badge in the case that could be attached below the Tail Piece. and Les Paul KM Truss Rod Covers and Grover pups. Finishes were Tobacco Sunburst, Natural and that Reddish Sunburst.

Not sure, but I am definitely curious if somehow this WAS a KM and is missing the KM bits and pieces, or if somehow it is a STD and just happens to have a Double Cream T Top and by chance was made in KMich.

I will try to get a better pic of the serial once I get it out and give it a full exam. As far as I know, The Nashville ones were numbered 500-999 last three digits. Mine is 069. Full serial 72399069

@Robert Herndon, See what you and mom selling her Custom for "out of my reach" budget did?
Looks like you found a good one!

@Robert Herndon, my initial statement is only partially true. I have been hunting a replacement LP for my now regretted give away of my original LP for 30 years. Not wanting to spend big bucks for it's successor has kept me from doing so. Now, I bit the bullet and am patiently waiting for the case and guitar to acclimate so I can give it the initial exam and playing.

It sure would have been crazy, if I actually had the scratch to acquire Mom's guitar from her. This one will hopefully be a gem like your Gold Top is.
