NGD: Out for Delivery!

NGD day is a slight bummer...they sent the wrong guitar! The back on this one is very plain and it's going back...

They are overnighting the correct one, so good on them! I'll play this one for a couple days until I get the new one.

I'll put up a pic or two later.

What I ordered and what I got...

The sales rep was super helpful. They are overnighting the correct guitar. I got another $100 off and of course a free return shipping label.

As soon as the supervisor saw the guitar, I didn't get he approved the return instantly with many apologies!

Way to go Musician's Friend!

every Musicians purchase Ive made required a follow up call or return -- or ....

This is the very first time I've had any issue with them.

They handled it quickly and efficiently and above all very professionally!

I'll get the guitar I want at an even greater discount than I already had, and I can play this one until the correct one arrives!

No complaints at all.

How do you like it?

Okay, got a few minutes with it. It's my first Taylor by the way...

1st. It's absolutely beautiful! Excellent craftsmanship and not a flaw on it!

2nd. Great sound projection and a full-bodied sound, minus just a little bass. It is a concert size guitar, so I expected that and it's what I like.

3rd. Love the feel of the fretboard and the nice low action. It should be easy on my fingers. I plan to put 11's on which ever guitar I keep.

4th. PERFECT intonation all across the board and I mean not even a 1/2 cent difference on any string between open notes and the 12th fret notes.

The only oddity so far is the length of the neck feel. It's a 12-fret guitar so a lot of the neck is built down into the body which makes it feel short.

I don't see any issues though because I think it makes it easier to play...

I'm going to be happy for sure, because this one is great and if I end up keeping it, I'll be okay with that. I do hope the one with the highly figured back is as nice...

It depends on how close they were. I'm not strictly buying a wall hanger here.

So, if there is a significant difference, I'll keep the one that sounds the best or plays the best!

I'm not sending the one I have back until the new one arrives...
I was just yanking your chain. I’d gladly take either off your hands. Every Taylor I’ve played has been a fantastic guitar. It’s great that you get to try two and pick the best one.

If you knew how many guitars I bought just for looks over the years you'd know your question was valid!

I have learned a lot from people on this wonderful forum and I go for the best guitar, not the best looking!

Very cool! That back has a nice flame on it BTW.

It does, but not nearly as cool as the one I ordered.

I like this better than the Martin Eric Clapton model I had. They are both around the same price point and body size.

The Martin was a 14 fret, and this Taylor is a 12 fret. The Taylor also has an open headstock which I really like.

Been playing for the last hour. I never knew how much I'd like a 12-fret guitar. It's much more comfortable to me. It's also quite loud for a small body concert size guitar.

Check out this link and do some reading on 12 vs 14 fret acoustics if you're not familiar...
