Will you both be tuning to A440? :celebrate2:
I shall be tuned to….
98C40D37-78B8-48CD-943D-62F6598EE353.jpeg ……well NIH! Flat….actually…

What is the top on that one? I love it! fretboard looks sweet too!
It’s a GS Mini e Koa… solid Koa top, and the fretboard and bridge are ebony….the fretboard is actually striped ebony, or whatever they’re calling it these days. I was captivated by it immediately. It reminds me of my TL-Six…

Own one , haven't picked it up in about 4 years . I mean isn't that what the neck pickup on an electric is for ;)
But I do play my electrics accoustically alot , alot quieter than an accoustic , but loud enough on a 335 type if you want it to be . And also has a bit more twang about it which I like .

Beautiful. I would have guessed maple, but I do not see it very frequently for acoustics.

Did you consider the tone you are after? When it comes to acoustics, there is no disagreement that the tone is in the wood

I did. I read up on all the top materials and the back and side materials and how they interact. Maple will work for me. It also has a Sitka Spruce top and ebony fretboard.

the Seagull has some different woods....crazy Canucks ;)

I have 3 acoustic electrics at the moment. Lately they have been hanging on the wall but I am starting to get more organized and stable so going to start playing again.
here are some quick videos of the 3

Schecter Diamond series "Synyster Gates" model.
Geared for alternative / grunge and some metal unplugged versions. Also great with nylon strings and Spanish style music as well as Arabic tones.

Traveler CL3E SPSE
Great travel guitar, built like a tank, cutaway pocket, modified the tailpiece for a string through design. Perfect children's guitar or learner way under priced for the quality.

Taylor 114CE
modified jumbo frets, great for country, good for campfire chord progressions, I am happy with it after trying several other brands, I didn't like Breedlove or Martin compared to the Taylor but that was my preference.

I see where you were talking about temperature issues and concerns in another thread.
Temperatures swing like crazy where I live, plus I use a combination of heat sources (wood fuel / propane / electric) more humid than Seattle here but the swings in temps from day to night is hard on the acoustic guitars but they are never horribly out of sorts but they do swell and the necks shift slightly from perfect so you can get those rattles and buzzes. I never adjust them until the seasons change, not worth the effort..

anyway enjoy the snipits and sorry for the singing again, still practicing lol

Not sure if it's the mic distance or strumming aggression or just the guitars but I can barely hear the Schecter in these vids and the Taylor is the loudest. Is that accurate in the room or just a recording thing?

I noticed that as well. for one the Schecter has the sound hole covered so that is one issue, then I was playing at low volume finger picking and the last thing was the recording was just the camera mic on top of the camera. For the Taylor that guitar is pretty loud on it's own and then I was strumming pretty hard, I haven't adjusted the neck in a while and it's been buzzing lately :-( I think it's my playing for the most part thats doing that, still learning :-/ I just posted a new video in the Quick into clips "Jam sessions" forum. I ran a line direct from the pedal board headphone out to the mic line in on the camera, had the volume all the way down on the camera but it was still clipping. lol I have a ways to go in setting things up with the camera and capturing the sound at the same time. recording the live sound in the room with the mic on my camera is okay but I am looking into a better live recording device for sure.. :)
Makes total sense. @Ramo keeps bugging me to start posting videos instead of sound cloud clips, but I just got that locked in and really don't want to start over with the same stuff you're forging through. :ROFLMAO: Maybe some day I'll get bored and go that route.

Is the Schecter an acoustic-electric? As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I've been considering getting an AE for intros/breakdowns in metal songs. Would love to know what you think of it, if it is.

Congrats! Yup, that will double as art if you choose not to play it. Either way you're good. Lol.

Is that a 6 series? I looked into that myself when getting mine. It was definitely a heavy hitter.
I wound up with Martin because I'm pretty obsessed with them in general. Like an old
choo choo train guitar.

I do love Taylor as well. They are of the best.

NOW, you gotta finish the kit though ...

Again, congrats, bro! (y)

I have one, an entry level Fender acoustic I bought years ago. Sounds pretty good for the price, and reasonably well constructed too. I used it more while I was taking some lessons at the time, but now it doesn't get played much. I will be changing the 2 year old strings on it soon and picking it up again to play some Neil Young tunes.

I'm really much more motivated to play my electrics though, since I prefer faster and more aggressive music. Some people do sound very good on an acoustic but unfortunately I'm not one of them.

Yep ...a punker and an acoustic is just waiting for a fight to break out. In all honestly a good punk act would tear it to shreds. Lol.

:dood:

I'm not ready for the sound cloud route :) i'll experiment around with different ways of recording over the next few weeks.
I would prefer to just capture the live sound in the room because I am also going to be using the PA speakers with backing tracks.

Yeah the Schecter is a AE, I will try and record some stuff for you going through the ipad / IRIG stomp as I am down a head amp now.
That Tonebridge app though is killer, the only thing I don't like with the IRIG stomp board is the software glitches and latency so if you just want tone, there is ton out there and 95% accurate to the original recording, helps me play better.. but then switching from a clean to a dirty channel the latency I have to compensate for and that messes me up, then there are the usual glitches so thats frustrating.
let me work on some recordings with the Schecter for you... it has a specific tone to it, hard to explain it, it's not limited by any means but it's unlike your typical campfire acoustic guitar.. anyways :)
I considered going the iRig route before I ultimately bought my Axe FX II XL+. Sorry to hear you're having issues with it, but it makes me glad I chose the Fractal instead.

Soundcloud is super easy to use. The folks running it don't seem to understand how to properly monetize it, which make me suspect it will disappear at some point, but for now it's there and easy to use. I can help you with it if/when you get to the point you want to try it. Been using it for like 5 years now.

And, yes, would love to hear some stuff with that Schecter. What model is it exactly? Might need to start researching it, just in case.

Thanks!

Funny. I pulled out my GS Mini and noticed a bit of bulge. I searched the issue and this was the first search result

Hey @syscokid , how is your belly?

There are a lot of results for this and a bit of a bulge is part of the GS's construction

I just started playing my acoustic detuned a full step. I like this a lot. Of course, it means I need to play in capo 2 if I want to play at concert pitch. But, I like the effect. There is much less string tension, and the guitar feels a little looser, but in a good way.

Dude, you have an Axe Fx 2XL?

So, hey… do me a favor….give me your address and then go on a vacation! Oh, and leave one door unlocked.

Thanks!

I've got a Tacoma Gypsy Road King and a Blueridge (I forget the model) and I rarely play either anymore. There was a point where I played acoustic exclusively for about 5 years. It really helped me build finger strength and develop my fingerstyle technique.

You’ll for sure build finger strength. I need to my acoustic more if no no other reason than finger strength.

It is a 612e. I agree, the look of that back kind of pushed me over the edge to buy it. They had 5 in stock and the one I chose was the only one with anything near that look.

I am going to play it though. I've re-dedicated myself to learning this year. I've been taking a course through Guitar Tricks and another with Your Guitar Sage. I've played
every day since December 22nd when I purchased the PRS Custom 24.
