I've been the singer for my band since we formed... My voice is just flat thrashed and I just can't physically keep doing it. So we've been looking for a singer for a few months. But in this small hick town there aren't really a lot of screamer metal vocalists.... Like zero!

I Just got home from our first practice with our new singer!
And she absolutely killed it!

She actually grew up with my own two boys, daughter of a very close family to us. I coached her in basketball and softball, she took my music production class in high school.... I should have asked her to sing for us years ago.... She was very excited!

Tonight I taught the band how to play "going under" by Evanescence because it is literally my girls voice, she is very close in timbre and tone to Amy.

We also did Chevelle, The Red. She nailed that one in 2 takes.

Then we worked on 2 of my songs, a little difficult to work out how to sing those, my voice is obviously much different than hers.
We'll get through it though and come out so much better afterwards! Can't wait to finally start playing out again!

The band is very happy with her, we are all so giddy having a singer that's not.....well.... me! Ha!

Drummer is a friend of my other guitarist who works for a close by school district, our bassist is the drummer's daughter and she's 16.
Our new singer is 20. So we are a full house, 3 old dudes and 2 young girls ha ha!

I believe we have achieved our final form and it feels great!

I'll get a video or something for y'all next practice.

3 old dudes and 2 young girls ha ha?
Absolutely nothing can go wrong there!

Seriously though, have a blast. I'm full of envy lol

I've found a majority of females to be detrimental to long term survival of a band. My two year, 5 night a week stint in my last band ended when the married female vocalist got involved with a married guitarist.

The result???

A $1,000/week pay cut for me and 2 years worth of fixing guitars and keeping everyone together gone in an instant.

It didn't seem to bother anyone else, because they are all wealthy and comfortable, but I played my heart out and I took the loss really hard.

Music is my business. I don't "see" a female as anything other than a bandmate. Even when I was 18, I was a musical eunuch. I'd choose my band over a girl without hesitation.

I refuse to watch females that rely on scant stagewear to cover mediocre guitar or vocal skills.

I know of a few highly regarded femme performers that are lackluster, yet pack venues. In every forum post, guys remark on their appearance. They are overrated.

I won't work with these types either.

I'm sorry you had bad experiences with female bandmates.
In truth both of our girls are super talented and 100% are here for the music, not anything else.

The bassist is the drummers daughter, and the singer is like my own.

I apologize if I seemed to be pimping the girls out in any way, certainly not my intention at all. We are primarily a Christian Metal band and we do some darker/heavier flavored songs as well.

I did not take that away from your post at all. I'm just super sensitive to my loss.

I'm still playing with a Christian Rock Band under contract.

Lol no dude it didn't sound that way at all lol

....just leave it to me to twist it around and make it sound....dirty lol

'twas mostly a joke. Seriously though, awesome that you've got personnel.

One of my singers is high maintenance, just because but that has improved.
The other is an absoiute gem. No issues whatsoever after many years. Just like any other band member.
2 chicks in a band can lead to cat fights sometimes to be honest but it all dependson the people. I never lump everyone in a group of people together.

Oh I get that, I've coached girls for 20 years now.
I don't foresee those types of issues in my band. The bassist is super super quiet and reserved. I can barely get her to even speak sometimes.

And although singers tend to be prima-Donna snots ... Little princesses, this one has a great head on her shoulders, is super humble. She really just loves music so much she is excited to see where she can take this whole Metal thing.

I'm so excited to see what she can do as well.

That sounds really exciting!
Can't wait to hear it.

@Headache
That’s great bro I have been trying to get a female bassist to jam with me for almost a year now, the drummer we had in mind is to busy with his exterminator business to play.
Now you have a full band
Barron Cross was a favorite Christian metal band of mine, many years back ..
Cheers
