I received the Tele on 10/19/ 2021. After playing exclusively for the last 3 months, here's my opinion. Before I get into it I have a few kudos and criticisms.

1. Upon unboxing it I noticed a noticeable ding,, raised chip whatever on the Headstock. This had to have happened during either during the setup, or the repacking. *I did get reimbursed*.

2. The setup *which I had to pay for* was not up to my liking, so I had to redo it. *I also was reimbursed for it .*

3. The tuners need to be upgraded to preferably locking tuners, or just a higher quality. It holds tune pretty well, but if you play hard and bend a lot *which I do* and upgrade is in order.

4. I will be replacing the volume, tone and capacitor to CTS 500K pots and a .022 paper in oil cap. The cavity and cavity cover came shielded.

5. I'm still on the fence with the Indian Laurel fingerboard, it's pretty porous and dry. I guess after a few more conditionings it will get better. The Abalone Dot inlays are a little daek, but still a nice touch

6. Sweetwater's description of the body was it has a flame maple cap, it's actually almost a veneer, just a tad thicker. The remainder of the body is 3 piece Mahogany as well as the neck.

7. It comes with oversized strap buttons, a pain to get a new strap over, but it'll never come off!

8. It has a "belly cut" and an extended cutout for the "set" neck, no problem reaching all 22 frets.

9. It come with a Graphite nut and the typical Tele 6-saddle strings-through-body hardtail bridge.

10. Okay, my biggest complaint......The new pricing. When I bought the guitar in Oct 2021 Sweetwater's advertised price was $799.99, it's now $999.99! To be honest I got a great deal , my invoiced price was $633.45 and that included a hardshell SKB case. I've been a Sweetwater customer for years and spent thousands of dollars, but that was one of the best deals ever.

So playing wise, it's a joy, the neck is a C shape and very smooth and effortless, balance is very good as well no neck diving here. What I really like is the weight, 6lbs, 10oz's, compared to most of my collection it's probably one of the lightest.

The sound is wicked, even with not so great pots and cap the Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N RP Humbucker in the neck and the Seymour Duncan SHPGP-1B Pearly Gates+ Humbucker in the bridge scream. In a hard overdrive mode it cleans up nicely when you roll the volume down on the guitar, I did notice a little high end loss, but I blame the pot's and cap. Rolling back the tone control renders a nice "Women" tone.

Over all as it stands, I give it a 9 out of 10 Weasels. Not bad for a guitar made in Indonesia. I wish Fender could produce an American version for the same price point.

That sounds like a good buy!!!!

Congrats! That is Sweeeeeeet!
Are you sure its not the nut binding?
Did you do some bends behind the nut watching the tuner to see if it bounces back or not?
I've found this to be the culprit 9 out 10 times even with cheapy tuners, as long as the strings are wound correctly.

Hey Wease, how is your hand dexterity coming along?
Glad to see you back playing.

The nut is fine, IMO it could just use better tuners. As far as my hand dexterity goes, you tell me......

I know you aren’t back to 100% like you were…. And I know you are frustrated with that. Your desire to continue playing guitar has been good therapy. Both physically and emotionally. You could have given up…. But you didn’t. We’re all happy you didn’t.

That 'is' a nice axe for $600. Even for $1000, still a pretty exceptional guitar.
I always wondered what a Fender would be like without the bolt on neck....that was the reason I never played Fenders too much.
The mahogany body is a major factor, that's got to have a lot more sustain than a regular Fender does. That's what would attract me.

Other than that, it's a "telecaster" in name only.
It's not really a telecaster in the traditional sense at all, obviously.

It's a Jackson built to Fender specifications as far as I can gather.
Fender, owning Jackson and producing Jackson in Indonesia....it's got to be the same factory.

Nice axe, very nice, congrats. Nice playing too. The Jackson/Fender guitars coming out of Indonesia (I think there's 3 different plants making them there) are great bang for the bucks. I have an Indonesian pro soloist that I got after playing & being suitably impressed. I still haven't got round to changing out the Asian pots, switch & jack socket that I consider to be the only less than desirable aspects of the guitar.
Enjoy that fine axe. Cheers

That's really cool that it worked out favorably! I love a good purchase.

Regarding hand injuries, I overcame catastrophic injuries to both hands. Well, one hand really. Broke my right wrist into 12 pieces with a dowel fracture (when the bone pushes in on itself) which required a bone graft from my hip to fill in. Also had to have 2/3 of my left pinky (fretting hand) amputated. 20 years removed from those injuries and nobody who doesn't know me well notices when they hear me play.

You are well on your way. You got this!

excellent tone, and fine playing. I wish you well recovering.

Ignore all comments from Telecaster purists. My whole life seems to have been dedicated to the
confounding of purists of almost any stripe. Tele purists will sometimes glance at my Telecaster
and then look away, as if it embarrassed them to see it.

site won't let me upload pictures, so you'll need to imagine my black Tele Deluxe replica...
a black tele with a blonde neck and twin Fender "Wide Range" humbuckers.
I named her Snow White and she's got a fine unique sound all her own.

love the maple neck!
