Are you a wrapper?

I have been top wrapping forever. I like the stopbar to be all the way down and I just like the way it looks top wrapped.

Not always but I do like the feel, as many have said before ...slinkier. Is it just in my head? Could be.

I am not. I did try it on all my guitars for a while but after 5-6 months I switched back to the "regular" way. I didn't like the look, but more importantly I didn't like the feel: when I am spinning the volume and tone controls I tend to run my wrist along the top of the tailpiece on the way down and the strings were literally leaving marks and it felt bad.

I originally did it to lower the break angle, which is why I suppose most people do, but I found that overall I much prefer just stringing them through and raising the tailpiece a bit. I really don't detect any difference in tone/sustain with the tailpiece decked (I think that's a little bit of internet folklore actually) and it actually feels better with the tailpiece higher while I am turning those knobs, so that's where they will stay.

I also totally disagree with his premise/theory that the tailpiece can "wiggle" while you are playing. Anything you are doing to the strings while playing will increase tension.
DO agree with him on the ABR bridges. Hate them. In the process of getting them off the guitars I have them on. There's a reason they got redesigned after all.

No wrapper here! Unless it's a guitar designed with a wraparound bridge tailpiece, I don't like the feel of the strings on top of the stop tailpiece, nor do I like the looks of it. I'm perfectly fine with jacking up the the stop tailpiece till the strings clear the back edge of the bridge.

I do top wrap my G400. Only reason is for string angle. Strung up normal the A and E string were contacting the bridge body. I have absolutely nothing to back up my premise…. But in my feeble mind I just felt the tail piece screwed down solid to the body was just more better. Top wrapping allows me to do that. To date…. Not a mark left on the tail piece caused by the strings 1642093868939.jpeg

A Vancouver State of Mind (The Wine Hip Hop)

Yeah, yeah
Ayo, band members, it's time.
It's time, band members (aight, band members, begin).
Straight out the small dungeons of rap.

The strings drops deep as does my cheese.
I never play, 'cause to play is the mother of freeze.
Beyond the walls of guitars, life is defined.
I think of guitar when I'm in a vancouver state of mind.

Hope the tease got some seize.
My expertise don't like no dirty freeze.
Run up to the disease and get the ease.

In a vancouver state of mind.
What more could you ask for? The huge strings?
You complain about bad beer.
I gotta love it though - somebody still speaks for the flings.

I'm rappin' to the wine,
And I'm gonna move your line.

Blue, fast, slow, like a beef
Boy, I tell you, I thought you were a belief.

I can't take the bad beer, can't take the ribs.
I woulda tried to cruise I guess I got no bibs.

I'm rappin' to the line,
And I'm gonna move your wine.

Yea, yaz, in a vancouver state of mind.

When I was young my mother had a things.
I waz kicked out without no kings.
I never thought I'd see that rings.
Ain't a soul alive that could take my mother's wings.

A best finger is quite the linger.

Thinking of guitar. Yaz, thinking of guitar (guitar).

I have three top wrapped -- sometimes the guitar and its personality or design dictates certain set up traits
personally I can adapt to what makes the gutiar sound best -- as long as its in reason
I mean I learned on guitars with SUPER HIGH ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-- check out my SWEET STRING BENDS!

the "strap" (string ) running under the strings at the 7th fret is an OLD T-Bone Walker trick ;)

Like you. My very very first guitar was very similar. Think the action was so high I was doing string bends just straight fretting the notes. Let’s just say…. I dumped that thing and bought a 12 string Yamaha. It was WAY easier to play.

Guitar stores around here are leery of letting anybody fondle their vast inventory of import jackson and budget guitars ,The last real music store I set foot in until last year at Gruhn was 15 plus years when i visited a guitar center in Atlanta played a strat through the purple tolexed hendrix marshall full stack it was awesome to say the least .
