Let’s hear the New Year resolutions.

Smitty, I was in a musical instrument shop in Westminster ( Maryland not England) and saw a guy checking out some guitars and test playing them.

He sounded pretty good actually. I made conversation with him and he informed me he was actually a bass player and was lefty. Of course the guitars he was playing were righty. How he did it, still stupifies me.

Maybe not so weird. My youngest is left handed. He plays sports right handed…. Except for tennis. Plays guitar and bass right handed. But I have witnessed him pick up a lefty guitar and after a couple misses… started playing almost as good as he does right handed. I do believe lefties brains are wired different than righties. I feel it may give them abilities to adapt that righties cannot do.

Norm, I have always been BOTH handed. We have 2, why not use em both for everything? I do just about everything with either.

I get that. But big fail for me. I can do some things with my left hand. Obviously fret a guitar. I can turn wrenches left handed. I struggle with a screw driver lefty. As well as turn a nut onto a bolt with my left hand. And never never ask me to use my left hand to chop vegetables with a sharp knife. It will not end well.

I am right handed but bat, hockey and golf Left, if I did indeed play such things. Rifle would be left as well. But I write and do everything elee right handed

I'm one of these wierdos who is ambidextrous... To be honest I have never tried playing lefty ,but I must have a go...

It’s hard to find a lefty guitar at the store.
Maybe I’ll try holding my guitar upside down. Just to see how it feels.

Speaking of ambidextrous, I would love to play guitar like this by the end of this year. But I gotta buy another guitar (left-handed) and some glue.

I took my SG and flipped it over.
My fretting hand (right) felt really weird.
My picking hand (left) felt really good. Although the way I held the pick was different. I felt like I had better accuracy.

I flipped it back to normal and tried the new pick positioning with my right hand. My attack changed. Speed picking feels better.
