Why Modern Metal Sounds Generic

If they want back to metal, at all. I used to listen mostly to hard rock or metal. But, having been raised exposed mostly to classical music, I have always had an appreciation for that, too.

Anyway, a few years ago I began listening more to the exact types of music you mention (let me add ’70s funk!). I pretty much lost interest in rock and metal. I still listen to some periodically, but it doesn’t hold my interest like it used to. I’m at the point where I would rather listen to interesting chord voicings and the combination of all the instruments in a song than a fast guitar solo.

But, I do need to stress, that is my musical journey. I don’t want to suggest that it is “correct” or “right”; it’s just me.

If you guys want to hear some awesome funk and soul, tune into Brother Wayne’s “Waynesday Lost and Found” show on Wednesdays at WMBR, 88.1 FM from 12:00 - 2:00 EST. You can stream it live from WMBR and they archive all their shows for two weeks.

There are a ton of great shows on that station to check out if you want to hear stuff you won’t hear on the radio anywhere else.

My all time favorite moment with Lamb of God was probably 2007 Ozzfest in Burgettstown, PA. They were the co-headliners under Ozzy and had freakishly large circle mosh pits going on. But the moment that i still laugh at was Randy Blythe saying

" How many folks out there are local Pennsylvanians?" *crowd roars*
" Alright, some of you came over from Ohio, where you at?" *crowd roars, but a lil quieter*
"Well this song is for all you mother$!#%ers who drove up from West By God Virginia in your damn pickup truck! This is REDNECK!"
