Hate when a string breaks mid project.

So a few years ago I decided to try the Ernie ball paradigm strings. Strings that are supposed to be darn near unbreakable for 6 months or so… when I got my Richie Faulkner signature epiphone V with Floyd rose I immediately had those put on. For 2 years those same strings remained on that guitar and I only had to fine tune it 3 times… well the other day as I was working on a project, the D string finally broke…

You go 2 years on a set of strings?
I may go a couple months on a set. The strings start to sound dull if they are used for to long. All the grime from your fingers starts to build up on the underside.
It may be just me and sorry not trying to offend anyone but id be embarrassed if i went that long on one set, cost is only $12 for new ones

Typically no, usually I’ll end up breaking a string about a month and a half in. I wanted to see if these were as advertised and wanted to see just how long they would go with just using a string cleaner and heavy abuse.

Put these strings through the ringer. Now the other guitars I use for recording, yea, those get changed out if only because I know they’ll break pretty soon after I said, a month :p

Paradigms last me about a month.

Regular Ernie Ball's two rehearsals and one live show.

Dude...

Leave that on the recording and come back in with a tremolo rise to pitch and keep going!!!!

Thanks for the idea! I’ll definitely try that out once I get new strings
go NYXL, it lasts me the longest. I use XT set
I tried D’dario and always end up breaking those pretty quick. Perhaps I’ll give them another try though

if I could afford I would change them every week :) I can never play 2y old strings :)
Even if I could afford to I wouldn’t want to on that guitar or any of the ones I use primarily for recording. Mainly because of that effing Floyd rose. I love it, I truly do but it’s such a pain to restring and tune LOL! But honestly with those it really wasn’t bad, I’d just use a string cleaner on it after playing and it did me just fine. Only had to use the fine tuners 3 times in the 2 years I’ve had it. So for me it was a success. Like I said though, more than happy to try the d’dario strings.

Next major purchase though is getting a 1000 series Floyd to replace the license one on my Dinky.

You can get term block to keep bridge in place while you resting. I just resting my V and took me few min…. With Ernie Bollocks used take me long time. Just try wont be disappointed.

I feel Im drifting away from Floyd rose, as I can’t play leads for poop so naturally I stop trying…. I want to shred but all I can do is same blues licks..

Yea, I definitely thought about doing that. Usually I’d just do it one string at a time.

I try to use shredding type licks sparingly and go for more a melodic approach. I mean don’t get me wrong I’m aware there where times I just ripped into it but I blame caffeine for that LOL!

I love Floyd’s for the tuning stability, hardly ever have to tune on a 1000 series, and dive bombs are fun. Plus I like doing a few dips between notes just to add a bit more flavor to some of my leads.
