Yes, I know it's a long title, but it's a LOT of guitar!

I actually went to a shop and played this one before I bought it! First time for me!

The guitar is the nicest built I've owned yet. I can't say how well it plays because I need more time with it.

It sure is beautiful and I love the paisley case as well.

I really dig all the pickup options, whether I'll use them or not, who knows...

Did I mention I got to play this through a DUMBLE! That's right, I played through Joe B.'s Dumble in the store.

I didn't even realize I was sitting right next to the amp because it's really smaller than I expected. About the size of my old Princeton Reverb.

The sound was not spectacular. The guy who was helping me said a Dumble is built specifically for an individual's gear and style. He went on
say that he knows Alaxander and has an amp modified by him. He said that Alaxander kept his guitar for 7 months while he built the amp.

From what I gather, if it's not built for you don't expect a superb sound...

Anyway...on to the pictures.

Beautiful guitar, Sp8ctre! Big congrats...

Noticing the neck pickup's poles are facing south. Normal for PRS?

No idea? It's my first PRS. I do know it's a brand new 2021 fresh from the factory...

Interesting catch...I don't see any other PRS like this. I wonder if it may have been done during the set up at the shop? I don't see why they would have removed a pickup.

Now I'm going to have to investigate...

Still sounds great though! I just played for the last 45 minutes or so.

Here is the answer from PRS to Wild West Guitars.

Hey guys,

Glenn reached out to me concerning this earlier in the week on a couple of WL 24-08s that came in with ‘reversed’ pickups with the neck pickup screws-side toward the bridge side.

This is in fact a change that we ARE doing on all models with mini-toggle switches – which includes 24-08s, Special Semi-hollows, and Paul’s, etc. CORE model guitars – that is a rolling change, and they began to do this on current running models, thus the ‘mixed bag’ on your Wood Library run guitars.

Glenn also had asked if this does anything with the phase of the pickups and no it does not.

When we incorporated the TCI modifications to our pickups, it also changed which side of the humbucking coil stayed on when tapped. Slug side on…. It used to be screw side on. But now it is slug side on. The treble pickup worked out fine… however we flipped the orientation of the bass pickup for harmonic positioning reasons.

I hope this helps and I’m sorry for the confusion.
Bobby

Excellent, thanks!

I'd like to thank you for making me explore the tone and volume controls. I know all you guys who know what you are doing use them, but I just figured everything on 10 was good enough.

I've been playing with the controls the last couple of days, and I realize I've been missing out on a LOT of sounds!

That's the best news brother. Really hoping you bond with this guitar and it starts to feel like home for you.
