Who I Think of When I Think of SG Players

There's really only one person that comes immediately to mind: Tony Iommi

I have to think for a second to come up with other names, even Angus (Not much of a fan and only like some of the early Bon Scott era AC/DC so he's not a go-to for me)

Yup, Iommi and his SG's is my number one influence when it comes to my love of the SG. Number two SG guitar influencer would be Frank Marino... After I saw Mahogany Rush in the late 70s, I proceeded to brutally torture my SG's Maestro vibrola till the curved spring plate snapped off... :BH:

Three other players that I haven't noticed being mentioned as SG players: Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, & Eric Clapton.

Duane Allman I always pictured with an LP, and Clapton with a strat though.

Yes sir. But some are surprised when I mention that the almighty SG was very prominent in their earlier part of their careers.

Good Lord, that does not look right...
I'm so grateful that his Strat took a dump while recording Black Sabbath's first album. It was the curse of @Ramo 50 years ago...
Ramo would have used V and lots of gain. :)

Yeah.

I really do like Stratocasters. I genuinely like the clarity and pure tonality of a good single coil pickup, but I don’t think it would have fit as well with the direction they ended up going.

Wow. A biblical derailment.
Topic be damned!!

Wolf Hoffmann. First name I think of with a V.
A stark white V to be exact. It was my first real recollection of a V. Loved Accept as a teen.

I think that there's an unwritten rule where if you're in Germany, and in a metal band, You Must Play A Flying V!!!!

Unless, you're Uli Roth.

I thought it would be cool to dig out my black face fender super reverb AB763 oh no it's on the bottom shelf in the back corner
Play some Badfinger tunes. The 1959 Concert amp will have to do.
