Ok, Guys...

I'm thinking outloud here and I thought this might be fun for all of us.

I'm considering replacing my Origin 50H and 2x12 cabinet with a single 1x12 amp.

This amp would need to be capable of holding its own in a live mix in a noisy club.

Here's my desired specs:

40 to 50 watts

Dimensions 66 x 49 x 25.5 [cm] or a maximum of 26.0" x 19.0 x 10.0" to fit in my trunk.

Less than 48 pounds - can also be a 2x12 if 48 pounds or less

Must have FX loop

Must have "clean" and "gain" channel

Must not be digital with programmable banks

Can be of current or past production.

Thus far, the Mesa Fillmore 50 is a strong contender at 50 watts and only 44 pounds.

you can buy 3 for less than the cost of 1 filmore ........ and have amps for LIFE since they last foogin forever .... doubt the mesa will -- not without tons of additional $$$$$$ to keep it on the road

Hell you can get a used bandit for less than a set of tubes for the filmore.......

and the drunken dance rabble your playing to ....... really dont care as long as you play Gimmie three steps and Brown Eyed Girl.....

This probably doesnt meet criteria as it IS technically a modeller, but it has 4 independent banks that you can operate and strip down to a simple clean and distorted channel. Has 60 onboard FX and 3 cab sims but are all bypass-able and it has an fx loop. Can also operate as a power amp/speaker only if you want to drop your own preamp into it. 100w, 1x12, 36lbs. Very loud



Outside of this in a more traditional sense, the Peavey Bandit 1x12 is a very venerable amp, loud and simple 2 channel with hi and low inputs and fx loop. 100w at 4ohm, 80w at 8ohm but weighs an incredible 48lbs so maybe too heavy for portability.

Then there are the Marshalls: DSL40C and DSL40CR, always versatile. As well as any of the older Valvestates and MG series
 
The bandit will do it. I’d suggest something newer like a Quilter Mach 3 combo. It is very new so I’ve never played one. I own a smaller Quilter which I really like.

But, it's 15.75" width emwont for in my trunk.....

I would consider a hot rod deluxe.
It has preamp out power amp in to make a loop.
It has 3 gain levels foot switchable...
I would use a better speaker of course. I would probably go for an upscale Celestion speaker.
42 watts is respectable in a small venue.
The attributes being smaller lighter easier cheaper to service.
The HRD is actually the most popular guitar amp in the world. It's easy to see why it is.
I can buy a used one for around $400, which is quite a lot of amp. It doesn't sound bad.

When you compare an Origin, the Fender is actually built a bit better I think.
There's no problem getting parts that's for sure.

The Fromel supreme mods can upgrade a Fender combo amp, it's fairly impressive for a sane price.
I was skeptical at first, but in the end I liked it.

Those were always pretty cool amps. Ive seen hundreds of them in other people's hands and they're still selling today
 
I mentioned this in another thread but I figure since you live by a bunch of Guitar Center's, you should give the Mesa Badlander 50 watt 1x12 combo a try. Yes, it is 60 lbs, and it is a pricey $2350 plus tax, but it is a two channel amp. Each channel is identical and has three different gain-voicings: Clean Crunch, and Crush. Excellent Celestion speaker. Very practical features at the rear panel featuring a cab simulator, XLR direct out, headphone out, and fx loop.
